Guys just thought id get people to comment on whether they would endorse the idea of a supporters group kitty. Ie. We set up a bank account (or use one of our own) and get people to put in donations that would go to making banners, flags etc...
I think people underestimate how much $$$ are put in to make banners, and it really cant be just a small group of us that pays all the time...
So whos in?
Any ideas on how it should work?

some fans mite be very reluctant..but a great deal of trust must go into this issue..but if the fans see nothing in return then i guess they'll know whats going on but i doubt that will happen

I'm in. Good idea. As to who has responsibility, well that's up to everybody else. I don't think trust is an issue. Anybody who fiddles the books will get torn limb from limb!

Nedsta count me in too. I think its a great idea. refer to my post about leadership. That may answer the problem about who will control the funds.

i am one of those fans that wont be in bay 23 for every home game cos i like to watch the game from different views from game to game instead of being seated in the same area for the full season plus i like to make noice in other areas of the field we will need ppl on everyside of AUSSIE STADIUM so the oposition cop it from all side of the stadium.lol and i know the most noise is gonna come from bay23 so yeh i wont be there in everygame but i am still willing to chip in for the banners and flags cos i know how important it is to get the group running and good job guy!and girls...lol... so yeh just think of a way to get the money from each fan then make a new thread about how to chip in.IM IN!

As for who controls it, well i was thinking of trying to set up a commitee of 5-8 people who will be the supporters group link to the club...guess they could control the kitty as well.
Suggestion on what kind of bank account etc could be used? Or is it easiest just to use some1s already existing account?

Has anyone contacted the club regarding assistance with funding. Club buy in into an "official" supporters group may be the go?

Perhaps the club has or can set up an account for us to use. If we get a commitee up and running within the next month, they will be able to discuss this with the club well before the season opener.

I'm in for donations towards banners & flags
I also agree that if we are going to start talking finances then I think we definately need to get a committee in place.
This will mean however, that we will be putting in place an "Official" supporters group which will take quite a bit of work initially to set up and maintain.
Also if we get an "Official" supporters group set up and link it the club we may be able to look at membership fees to fund things like banners & Flags etc.

As I've mentioned in the leadership thread, I played a part in creating the curent Burrow (Souths supporters group) set up, though not involved any more.
We're not the "official" supporters group and as such support the team how we like, not how the Club likes, but things are organised alot better.
If you need more info guys, let me know.

We can have a group with funds involved, memberships etc. eithout being an official supporters group. The commitee of course would have to answer to the club and discuss issues, but not every member of the group would be officially linked to the club.

I think its good that we are thinking about these things now, in order to give us enough time to do it properly.
I say set up a netbank account for supporters who are interested in donating funds towards the banners and flags etc, and for that account to be moderated by a few trustworthy, loyal people who will be able to allocate funds efficiently.
