fuk my boss says the exact same thing - he still pays me with cheques pisses me off! www.commbank.com.au/NetBank/register.aspbasically Neds we need to set up an account firstly, and then you can make it a 'netbank' account. So if someone has an account they don't use all they need to do is call their bank and set it up, otherwise we'd need to open an account and go from there. It takes something like 3 days to organise.

3.4% + 30us cents per transaction
But you can pay by credit card without all the cost of setup

You can set up a special group cheque account with westpac that doesn't have any bank fees at all. The only down side is that you can't get bank card, ie cant use eftpos or atm's etc... only cheque, but you can withdraw directly from the bank via a teller. You usualy have a few signiatries on the account and always require two people from that list to withdraw money at any one time. Which I think is a top idea..
I'm with westpac so I don't need to much i.d. Anyone else will require 100 points of I.D, which will require your passport and drivers licence. When setting up an account like this we will need some sort of letter head from our group stating our purpose for the bank account and what it will be used for, which shouldn't be very hard to do.

We should transfer the money to an ING account when it's not being used to earn interest

I am trying to make a big banner or flag myself, well by trying I mean I haven't really done much yet, except for half preparing a set of cut outs for the logo. If the first one works out okay then I will get onto making some more. I prefer the simplicity of cash , if we are going to raise money for something.

Cash collections are a nightmare from past experiences...If we make it with a bank that has lots of branches then anyone can go into a local branch with $10, 20, 50, 100 whatever they want and put it into the group account.

Yeah, cash would be a bastard! You also have to trust a single person to look after the cash :/
