thats right about the NBL...The central coast have made a great signing in Gumprecht...He was like a German 3rd division player...but over here when he played for Parramatta Power he was instrumental for them to reach the NSL final...and he didnt break the budget...so i think sydney is waiting for the Janaury Transfer window to open to get some Euro imports...and we still havent got a coach...

Thats the main thing im worried about.. Remember we are in a world game.. Players are verywhere. BUT we need a coach and fast so we can at least start setting up plans and the like...

yeah i agree with you...and the sydney fc directors say they are working on it...but it is still early days...i think when they announce the coach it will be one that is top qaulity and thats why it would have taken them so long to secure one...

Uhm, I'll bring something to your attention, the NSL was a shambled organistaion and part of the problem was the quality of football was to low. But that doesnt mean all the players were crap, if that was the case then football will never succeed here. Plus thats a tad ignorant.
The thing is that their were to many teams and this meant to many players who weren't up to par were playing in it and this lowered the overall quality. But now with less teams only the best from the old crop(in which there were many good players) will be allowed to play. So one must realise it will be better quality. Im not 100% behind this policy of signing half a team of south american/african players. We do have alot of talent here and nothing is more significant for the long term future of a club then when people can identify with their local team, meaning local players.

i totally agree with you...and i didnt say half the team..i said maybe 1 or 2 south american players...and i think people have forgotten who played in the NSL...players like Viduka,Scrhwazher, emerton, and most of the socceroos...also Christian Vieri played in the NSl aswell...

I wasnt directing that at you. But yeah 1 or 2 I would go for, but I'd like the core to be from Sydney if not from Australia.

no ones complaining....evreyones just expressing there views...and how do you know they are donkeys when you probably didnt even wacth one of them in the NSL...our defender Steven Laurie was with West Ham in England...so do you research on those players before you call them "donkeys"....because there good qaulity Australian players...and its early days converse...i think sydney fc has a few tricks up there sleeve...like they have hinted recently...
i dont know who you expected....Pele,Maradonna,Croft..(being sarcastic)...these are good signings...

hey "converse" i forgot to tell you...all the players have signed are all NSL winners....
"The first six signings by Sydney FC represent some of the very best Australian players available," Bugno said in a statement. "And very importantly they are all winners."
"Bolton, Ceccoli, Petrovski, Middleby and Packer have all won national championships in Australia in recent years, and Laurie showed he's made of the right stuff by making the grade with West Ham United as a teenager and playing in England for six years."
"This is a great start in building a team that all of Sydney can be proud of."

Theres enough Australian talent here to build a good team which will play quality football. If we want football to grow here then we need foster the nations players. And its not as if they're all shit FFS.

Aw c'mon, chill out. It's pretty clear that the six we have already are squad players and certainly not the playmakers we're looking for. Overseas players won't be signed for a fair while yet. Don't be shocked if their announcement doesn't happen during the next transfer window and probably a fair few more after that. It's a competitive market out there and our future signings are still running around a cold, ice hard paddock right now, dreaming of sun and fun filled carefree lifestyles.

when did vieri play in the nsl, what utter rubbish Not that I was ever A fan of the NSL but I think you're more than a bit uninformed. Christian spent much of his childhood in Australia (his brother Max was actually born here) and played for Marconi as a teenager before moving onto greener pastures in Italy. Another thing worth noting is that both Vieri boys apparently still have strong connections with Australia today-Max plays now and then for the Socceroos and Christian owns a fancy looking Italian restaurant down in darling harbour.
