Sydney Radio personality Peter Peters read on air my email this morning on his show. In it I said "Sydney FC has just signed outstanding Footballer Dwight York. Over the summer you continually claimed that the A-League is "nothing new". The signing of DY clearly discredits your ignorant views". In reply, Peter said how DY "was" a good Footballer but hasn't done "anything for years" and that the A-League is receiving more publicity now than it will when it actually kicks off. DY will greatly raise the profile of Sydney FC and that in itself is justification for his signature. When you add him to the outfit that is currently playing in the UAE and performing just so well the sky is the limit for this club in the multi Billion$ Asian market. Did he take the piss out of the fact you can't even spell DY's name?

Chill out lads , as all the glamour signings around the world...of course they are not worth the bucks $$ they are being paid ;- Need examples ? Del Piero - Beckham - Owen etc...
But look at it in a marketing sense they will attract
1/ Media attention 2/ Sell Sydney FC shirts 3/ hopefully score goals 4/ Attract more sponsors 5/ equals more $$$ in the SFC empire Arrhh almost forgot those Asian currencies wont go astray either when/if we play Asian champions league...
Signed Pelle (Professor of Football Economics)
P.S. Ciao Walter are u reading this -keep up the splendid work!

Neither will Dwight Yorke when he is shagging sleepers and snorting charlie that you paid for. This time next year he will be off discussing a transfer to some Arab league whilst Sydney FC are playing league games without him, and like the Birmingham fans you will be glad to see the back of the no good layabout. If a transfer were to come about with Birmingham also having to contribute to his wages, this could be a nice little earner for Sydney. Lets make a few points about Yorke. He is still good enough for his national team. He was involved in rasing and donating money for the tsunami appeal. He is losing money coming to Sydney. His scoring record is equivalent to Heskey's at Birmingham. Sydney is getting Yorke at a bit of a discount. No transfer free and about half of what he would get in Europe. Yorke could probably earn quadruplethat in the Middle East or Japan. He is coming from a team in the EPL, even the poorest of which has a bigger budget than the entire A-league. Poms who can't spell Sydney properly should stick to labelling themselves after the team they really support. I would also like to see some people get realistic about the situation. Muscat is probably earning what Yorke will be getting in Sydney while playing for Milwall. The situation is like this. If someone does not want to come to Sydney they will only come for double what they are worth, not half like Yorke. So anyone suggesting any other names find out first if they want to come Sydney and find out what price they will be come at instead of saying X would have been better without knowing anything about the situation .

On Behalf of all Perth Glory fans i would like to congratulate you guys on signing Dwight Yorke... It is players like these that are needed in the A-League for it to be put on the map of World Football. Once again Congrats on signing Dwight... Hopefully he himself wil be able to draw crowds to Sydney FC games and hopeully he can scores goals for you aswell but not against the glory of course

What a blow! Berti all over again. Some people just have too much money and not enough brains. On current form, and with the knowledge that he likes to "holiday" in Sydney, it's more likely that he will: 1) have to be in the team week in week out as he is getting so much money (Those who have put up the dough for him, including sponsors, are going to want him in the side no matter how crap he's playing.) 2) play at his current standard or worse and so turn fans off the new league/Sydney FC Obviously too many Man Utd fans on this forum. Someone mentioned that he's only not playing for Brum because if he plays two more games he gets another season with them. Yeah exactly mate! He's useless and they don't want to be saddled with him any longer. Interesting that while they are trying to offload him they come out and state publicly that his performances were disgraceful and an insult to the fans. Others seem to think taking a pay cut is some sort of sign that he will be very committed. Maybe it just means he's factored in the lying on a Sydney beach part of the contract. I hope I'm wrong but if I was having a bet the intelligent way would be to back against him being a success. Not pessimism - realism. We seem to have a great side capable of scoring freely. The crowds would have come without Yorke. Let's hope he doesn't stuff things up. Obviously we'll all have to wait and see. If he is crap we'll have to hope he gets injured early.

Hey here's a thought. Why don't we just wait and form our opinions on Yorke after we actually see him play for us? All this, "he's a money grabbing bastard more interested in supermodels than football" or "he's the second messiah which will lead football in this country to the promised land", is just a tad premature in my opinion.
In reality his form will probably land somewhere between the two opinions.
