Sydney Radio personality Peter Peters read on air my email this morning on his show. In it I said "Sydney FC has just signed outstanding Footballer Dwight York. Over the summer you continually claimed that the A-League is "nothing new". The signing of DY clearly discredits your ignorant views". In reply, Peter said how DY "was" a good Footballer but hasn't done "anything for years" and that the A-League is receiving more publicity now than it will when it actually kicks off.
DY will greatly raise the profile of Sydney FC and that in itself is justification for his signature. When you add him to the outfit that is currently playing in the UAE and performing just so well the sky is the limit for this club in the multi Billion$ Asian market.

FAN-FARKING-TASTIC NEWS!!!
As a player, I'm indifferent to his signing....yeah he's proven himself at the highest level repeatedly, but his best has has passed him (or he'd be getting a gig at Birmingham, no?). That said, he'll do fine in the A-League, so its no big deal, and on balance is a nice acquisition.
However, the big big BIG plus is the people he will draw. I think we were all a bit stunned by the interest stirred by his visit earlier this month. I'm sure this interest will equate to a few extra people coming along.
That, and he gives the A-League so much added credibility. It is physical proof for all the punters who think football = riots, that the league is a clean and massive break from the tin-pot operations of the NSL; it shows that this is a serious league which has vision and the ability to pull it off. The management/admin at the club deserve praise.....they have made a bold move which benefits not just the club, but all football in Aus.
In conclusion, WOOHOO!

I do however like how you referred to him as a radio "personality", nice but a bit generous don't you think? cheers

Brilliant news. Cant wait to see him play for us. I just hope that he is worth the money we are paying him. I am a little concerned however, very happy about what he will bring to the game. Well done Sydney FC management. ;D

This is awesome! ;D I've loved Dwight ever since his brilliant performance for Man Utd in the treble season. Just great when we get to see him in a Sydney FC shirt. I think he will lift the players a lot and he can teach the younger guys heaps too!

Oh man I can't get the grin of my face ;D Neither will Dwight Yorke when he is shagging sleepers and snorting charlie that you paid for. This time next year he will be off discussing a transfer to some Arab league whilst Sydney FC are playing league games without him, and like the Birmingham fans you will be glad to see the back of the no good layabout.

From what I have heard Dwight Yorke isnt playing first team games at Birmingham and wont be for the rest of this season, because in his current contract it states that if he plays a certain number of games for that club they "Have to offer him a new contract", and he reaches that amount in 2 games.
Great news for both Sydney FC and the A-League in general.
I believe that DY can still match it with the best when he is on his game.

Fuk can everyone stop being so negative so soon... Give the guy a fukin chance please before u start ur ranting I'm the only one being negative, so what do you mean by "everyone". As I read this thread, there was me being realistic, and a bunch of other blokes lining up to suck Dwight's best asset.
