I don't see many overseas based Australian coming back to play for Sydney or for that matter any club in the APL. Maybe with the exception of reserve players in England eg Jay Lucas, Richard Garcia, Richard Johnson etc.
What the A-League will do though is keep the 17-19 year olds in Australia for a few more years. You will see less move off to Europe at 16 because they can play in at a resonable level here and also earn roughly the same. With the added benefit of living in Australia rather than Europe.
In the long run this will increase the quality of the league, which will increase support, increase crowds, increase profit etc. Once that happens the salary cap will be increased or got rid of completely. Maybe then we will see some Australians coming home to play.

well, i for one would absolutely LOVE for chimaobi nwogazi to return for Sydney FC! that would most certainly keep me interested. Looking at the league realistically, we need to lure the one high profile player from overseas(preferably an on-fielder not a goalkeeper, as i think people would come more to seeon-field skills. I might be wrong though) and then look to Sth America. The fruit is there, and our money is absolutely shit hot compared to their fumbling currencies. Australia offers all the benefits of Sth America, without having to protect yourself from constantly being kidnapped!

Not sure if he was suggested earlier on (too much too read !) but Mark Bosnich would be a good option.
