I reckon SFS Easier to smuggle goods in
Plus in all seriousness you have got to think big and other grounds dont offer the capacity of the SFS.
When you have 20 plus in the SFS the Atmosphere is awesome. Along as prices are right, we win games (as for some reason Sydney only follow winners) people will come.
Its in a great part of town and to be honest the surrounding facilities are a million times better than other grounds. I mean can you honestly imagine trudging out to Concord and back!! L

What about Concord? Havent been their myself but heard good things about it. Great stadium, too bad there are no corporate facilities and abosoltely no parking. The Wests Tigers train there as well. Wouldn't be the best of surfaces after that.

The Showground is a p1ss poor venue for any code of football. Trust me, I've been to league matches there and it's pathetic. Agreed - crap atmosphere and it's not even a circle, actually designed for baseball more than anything! Still if this new 30000+ seater venue is a reality that might be a goer. Penrith (if W.Sydney comes in) is not an all seater venue - would have to be revamped. Parra stadium would be best there. I live near Parramatta but agree Aussie Stadium makes more sense - makes room for future team in west. The Friday work crowd thing could work well but IMO Sat night is best. Sunday - no way.

Generally when there are sporting events on at Aussie there are buses running from central railway station so there is also that opportunity rather than driving. whichever ground is chosen is going to pose difficulties to some people. There is one thing you must take into account too. People from the outer west are far more likely to come into the inner city than vice versa. Sydney people are event watchers. Hence if the word gets out, they will turn up. And in big numbers. Consider the fun times I have had as a soccer supporter at Parramatta Stadium, there is no way I'd want to play home matches out there. We are Sydney's team, not the western suburbs' team peoples! Plus there are the 339 Fox studios buses on Eddy Avenue that will get you to the Ground/Cricketers Arms. You can even use them with your TravelTen/Travelpass! JF

As I've said before the only worry I have with aussie stadium is that its capacity may be to big for the crowds that come. I mean I went the Solomons and Turkey games there and only looked decent when there were around 19 000 +. If the ASA are expecting 10 000 + then Im afraid it might look terrible in that stadium.
Has anyone ever been to Aussie Stadium when the crowds have been around 10 000 ?

I'd love it to be Parra stadium, to be honest (I live within 20 mins ). But I don't see that happening - SFS it will be. Actually more of a pain to get to from my work in North Sydney, and a trial to travel to from where I live, but hey. I do that every other weekend in winter (to see the Swans at the SCG), so why not every other weekend in summer too..... Hopefully the crowds start big and stay big. If the averages dip under 10,000, there's a chance the club may have to move to a smaller venue.

Has anyone ever been to Aussie Stadium when the crowds have been around 10 000 ? I'm a South Sydney season ticket holder (yes, I'm a League and Football fan), so I'm use to watching game with that many people. The atmosphere is pretty good when there's about that many people and this is especially true when the home team is doing well and the crowd cheering the team onto a win. The only problem with the size of the crowds is that for the majority of Sydney FC games there will be only a handful of opposition fan, so if the home team are going terribly, the SFS sounds as quite as a library. But if you have a supporters group who'll sing, chant, etc, for the full 90 minutes, it shouldn't be much of a problem.

i personally would have perefered parra stadium... easier to get me and most of western sydney to (where the largest participation is) and the atmosphere would be better..... but ive decided to make the effort and try and get to games

I went to Aus v Solomons & the last Parra v Glory game and much preferred Aussie Stadium for parking and the venue feels much more polished. I'd have been happy anywhere though so it being Aussie was just a bonus for me. I reckon everyone should do their bit to see the level of support lives up to that venue though.

I personally think we may have aimed a little high with going for SFS ahead of a smaller stadium but no matter what I accept the decision and will support the team no matter where they play.

SFS is perfect.Same size as Stamford Bridge for the future when football finally rules.Every train in Sydney goes straight to Central doesn't it?I mean you don't have to change trains half way through the journey or anything. No matter what station you get on at it goes to Central?

well i certainly know as a supporter from wollongong, making it to the SFS certainly is better for people outside the metro area!

I think the SFS was the only realistic option.
The RL comparison doesn't really work. SFC is Sydney's ONLY team, there's not going to be 6 or so (or however many RL teams there are). A more accurate comparison would be the Waratahs or the Swans. From those two, we can assume that the crowds will turn up if we have a winning team.
I think there will be good crowds to start off with (novelty of a new venture), but to keep the good crowds, the team will have to win IMO.
