with all teams signing away with there top 20 players most people have forgotten about a guest player ... In your opinion who would be a crowd attracting guest player ... and another question i have ... Who would people love as a major signing as our markey player

Guest player eh? Hmmm, tough question. My answer would have to be that a great guest player would be virtually any well-known foreign player who happens to tour Australia for whatever reason. I don't think we can really expect any Galactico-type players to come here just for A 90-minute kick around with Sydney FC, but if one of the bigger Euro clubs come here in pre-season (like Leeds did a couple of years ago) then virtually any of their first-teamers will do me fine. As a Liverpool fan i'm gonna ask for Milan Baros, Steven Gerrard, Xabi Alonso, Luis Garcia or even H Kewell please As for the Marquee, that's a bit of a mystery isn't it? I'm inclined to say Petit but it's gone a bit quiet on that front lately. If he can't be secured I honestly have no idea? Colosimo maybe? Nah...Anyone with a name big enough to pull and, more importantly, excite the crowds

Reality check in aisle three please. Hey man, it's a GUEST player. They're playing 90 minutes tops (probly less), it's not as if the player's signing any sort of contract with the club that won't be a scrap of paper in 3 days time. If Liverpool happen to stop over here pre-season on one of their Asian tours and an A-League team is really willing to shell out the appropriate cash then who says it couldn't happen ;D

Maradona as fat as he is, he'd still be a huge crowd puller. But seriously, if we could get Zidane to play 3 or 4 games, that would rock.

i like the idea off tommo about harry kewell ... but as a big soccer fan it would be hard for liverpool to aloow him to play 90min if they are on a pre-season tour getting ready for the EPL but i think the idea is very clever ... In response to zidane i think it would be near impossible to get him here for 1 or 2 games real madrid would not let him go ...
I think that a forgein player would be good ... In fact what has happened to Roberto Baggio ... He is just sitting down in italy not doing anything ...

If Liverpool happen to stop over here pre-season on one of their Asian tours and an A-League team is really willing to shell out the appropriate cash then who says it couldn't happen ;D Well firstly, a club like Liverpool would have rocks in their heads to loan out a player for 90 minutes when there is the possibility that some hack of a centre back will cripple their star signing because he wants to get his name in lights and has a point to prove. Secondly, why would they? I mean what's in it for them? If you have a car worth 10 million quid, would you give it to your mate for an hour and a half? Even if Harry wanted to come out, the club would block him. Liverpool unfortunately would probably never stop here as part of some Asian money making junket. The market for exploitation in China, Thailand or Japan would be much more attractive than some footballing backwater like Oz. How many Premier League clubs have been here for a pre-season tour lately? Anyway, having said all that, I hope I'm totally wrong. The game here needs a few drawcards.

Yeah man, I see your point completely, especially with regards to what seems to be an acture paranoia G-14 clubs have of risking injuries to key players and acknowledge that the chance of any such happenings is virtually zero, but hey, at least acknowlege that it's not entirely outside the realm of possibility eh? ;D But with regards to Premier League teams seeing Australia as a touring backwater, I think you might be being a tad pesimistic. As I mentioned before Leeds did it a few years ago, and with the A-league now being established at least there'll probably be some viable opponents out there so they won't have to export some mob from Chile like last time The Premier league is by far the most popular football league in Australia, and with regards to Liverpool virtually every third shirt I saw at the Solomons game had Carlsberg written on it. Obviously it would have to be a 2-day stopover type thing tied onto a money-spinning Asian tour. Am I dreaming? Of course ;D But hey, at least it's not an entirely impossible dream like Rivaldo playing for SydneyFc (which i believed was mentioned elsewhere?).

1. Guest players are stupid. I do not pay money to see a team play only to have it's cohesion ruined by a bladdy guest player. Stupid, stupid idea.
2. The aforemention Harry Kewell situation is complelty outside the realms of possibility.
If player is not here with the intention of playing a full season then I do not want them.

I doubt we will see any guest players. Anyone with half a brain can see it wouldnt work. I guess the only way it could happen is if a HUGE name came out, and the club used it as a marketing ploy. but i cant see it happening.
