well saying that cricket attracting fans to the east, doesnt involve families is a terrible assumption. the formula for crowds is simple.
Good product + good facility = BIG CROWD
And the only venue that can effectively be a fantastic football factility is the SFS. Parramatta stadium and the streets around it are a confusing labyrinth of biblical proportions. As for the good product.....we will wait and see

I wonder what the westieville FC strip would be? Thongs instead of footy boots and they run out to "Khe Sanh" by Chisel or some Acca Dacca ;D Ok, getting off topic here, apologies to Admin and my western sydney friends

I am still not decided on Parra or the SFS. Over the last 25 years I have been to events at both on a regular basis. The SFS has the advantage of having the great overall roofing for atmosphere. But you do need a good crowd to get it. The Turkey match did with two good sets of supporters, despite the result a very good night. The Solomons, well it was like empty except for the Scoreboard end, plus only 19,000. Now that is where I think we may have an issue. If Sydney FC can't pull more that say 15,000-20,000 to each game we may lose the atmosphere factor. Television perception is also very important and we must have a vibrant as full as posible ground. It does have all the facilities. It is a little harder to get to and from than Parramatta Stadium. Now for Parramatta Stadium, small and tight. Who can forget those great Grand finals of Olympic and Marconi. Great crowds and excellent atmosphere. If Sydney FC can get a 15,000 crowd here it will look full, atmosphere is excellent, parking not great, but beats parking at the SFS. Facillities for are not as well supplied, toilets, food and corporate. I believe the greater number of real football supporters are more western Sydney based, so Parra Stadium would just win for me. If the club in the first few seasons shows that it is too small, lets really really hope, then a move to bigger pastures would have to take place. If it is found from the start that we would get great sustaining crowds then the SFS from the start.
;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

I don't think Parramatta is that hard a place to deal with or park in. The real secret to the place is not to get too greedy and try to get close in. Be thankful with the parking spot you have got and then leg it quickly for 5 or 10 minutes. If you keep going then the council has designed a complex system to really trap you. The SFS is a potential minefield. The only solution if it is gridlock is to foot it from the City. Even the buses can get clogged.

Driving isn't really an option - football = beer and beer = public transport. ;D Getting to Parra via public transport from the north is not so easy, but that's just me of course - i'm not sure how many others from out my way want to support Sydney FC.

Not that difficult to get from North (Hornsby) to Parramatta by public transport, (actually a hell of alot easier then getting out to Rat Park: , I guess with the name Sydney FC they wanted to be more representitive of Sydney therefore based in the city

Not so practical after a few beers ;D

Did someone say they had "food" at Stade de Flannelette ? Where? I don't remember any? Best surface in the NSL? hahahahahaha lol I'm dying!
Try Stade de Cro at Edensor - best surface by a mile and prepared beautifully by the megastar of Oceania ....Commins Menapi !!
Hindmarsh and Members Equity.
Worst -
Stade de Flannelette - best suited for beach volleyball
Stade de Flannelette (North) - aka Express Advocate or just bloody Graham Park - green painted dirt does not a pitch make...
NSO Cricket Pitch + 5mm lawn elsewhere on the pitch.
The claypit at Cro South in "Sunshine"
Enjoy Phormic !!
