So we want to name ourselves after a left-wing thinkers group? Maybe we should go for Sydney Putsch, so we can encompass the fascists as well. I have to say, The Push does sound like The Glory, The Magic, The Jazz and all those other Americanisms.
What about something more upmarket? We could get a Johnnie Walker sponsorship and call ourselves Blue Label. ;D

The lefty group called the sydney push got their name from the rocks push, a street gang about 100 years ago.

The clown calling himself "Casual" was trying to pose as a Celtic Casual so I called him out on it.
He had a Celtic Casuals badge as his avatar, its gone now.

Why do we have to copy what other fans do? In my opinion we should create our own traditions, not blindly mimic longstanding european fan groups.

this is going way off course..do we actually have any experienced fans here from europe??? who have been to big games? been with supporter groups before?? we need some expert opinion..any englishmen in here?? What, are we gonna call ourselves the Sydney Millwall faction, and fight representatives from Chelsea's crew offshoot in Brisbane? Seriously people...we're looking for a name that represents us when we're ATTEMPTING TO BUY TICKETS. Not a name that represents us when we fly the hammer and sickle flag, a la Livorno fans. Not a name that befits those that make monkey chants towards black players, particularly in Spain this season. This is not Ajax v. Feyenoord, Rangers v. Celtic or Boca v. River. Why on earth would we want to copy the violent thugs that make these games dangerous to attend? In answer to your question 'serb01,' I've been to a few "big European games," I've been spat on in Gelsenkirchen, had glass bottles thrown at me in Bern and watched neo-Nazis in action in Szcezin. Why on earth would we in Sydney want to celebrate this kind of behaviour? Any reference to "ultras" or "hooligans" or "crews" smacks of teenage machismo from guys who find something better to do the second they land their first girlfriend. SYDNEY ULTRAS HOOLIGAN CREW REPRESENT! We don't need it...

We dont have to imitate anyone all i'm saying is to think about the name. Do u really want a w**ky name like bling or push?
serbo01 ur just a kid, who cares if anyones been to a big name or not, wat makes u the expert, is it because u have been to one partizan v zvezda derby? Like micheal said, syd fans should have their own style which i'm sure they will do. As for ultras, firms, casuals, hooligans, crews etc etc
its bound to happen...

As to how wanky the name is or isn't you're entitled to your opinon, to me there's nothing more wanky than wannabe hooligans. Ultras, firms, casuals etc, I seriously doubt there's either the will or the numbers to sustain anything other than a few deluded teenage posers. Lets face it, if they want a ruck they can follow an NSW permier league team. I for one don't want to see that particular pestilence take root here. I saw and experienced more than enough of that shit back home.
