He will do for me. Young in Coaching years and respected by the players. I agree. Coaches teams to go out and attack. And has little time for political bullshit and politics. And will speak his mind about it. If only Spirit had him in their 1st couple of years and not Graeme Arnold. JF

Granted Arnold would struggle at under 8 level. Did you see the f**ker at the Soloman Island game just sitting their. What a tool!!

Ask Liam Reddy what he thought of Nick Theo ;D ;D
I reckon The Alphabet is way too arrogant to be a top class coach. I think he knows quite a bit about soccer, but is too far up his own arse for the more senior players to respect him.

OP: It's up to the people who would call themselves Sydney FC fans to get support at the games. As for Sydneys fairweather supporters there's some truth to that, but if you look at the AFL I think you'll find that the Swans picked up an awful lot of ongoing support once they got into some finals. It'll be the same with SFC - my guess is there'll be some early novelty support, then with success will come long term supporters. It's going to need a solid core of supporters to get off on the right foot, so I'd rather be optimistic and get a season ticket than mope.
I thank the gods every day that SFC isn't called Sydney Zingers or Sydney Dynamite or Sydney WTFshouldwecallitthisweek. If you need a wanky name to get behind a team then good luck to you.

It's the big names that will attract the masses but with a 1.5million dollar salary cap for the WHOLE team, who the heck can you get. Even the one player who is allowed outside of the cap wont be getting much more then 400k.... heh I heard that Petit would be interested in playing over here if he can get around the 300k per year mark. Sounds like a good retirement plan for me eh..

The problem with Sydney is there is no real sporting culture. All the citizens of this lonely city only support a team if it winning and people are not inclined to attend games live. They are more the armchair sporting types. Sydney sports goers don't tend to wear much in the way of colours and sit on their chairs and clap occasionally, and usually leave 10 minutes before the end of the game to go and buy a latte, even if it is a close game. And Sydney FC will find it much too difficult to get the Croations, Greeks and Italians to work together and play together, and I tip the regular on field brawl, with players from the Sydney FC beating each other up. And what sort of name is FC anyway? Talk about zero creativity. They are my tip for the wooden sthingyers. Why bother posting on a supporters site when you don't support the team. People like you are the exact reason the NSL failed.

If we do sign an overseas "star" it has to be it that central midfield area.

From my memory, the NSL was a huge success, but dropped off in the last decade due to mismanagement, and failure to adapt.

I think sydney will suceed because of the large population...and if it is marketed right it will be succesful...and evrey winter saturday drive to around all of sydney suburbs(east and west) all the parks are full of young kids and in the afternoons adults full of playing soccer...so i reckon it will succed...but its up to all of us to get behind it...

i reckon a top flight overseas coach should coach Sydney fc...and someone like Nick theo or culina as assistant to learn the tricks of the trade...then one day they can take over..
