Nice to know the intellect of this forum has been increased incredibly by your wonderfully insightful. I make absolutely no bones that I am a diehard Swans AFL footy supporter. I follow them around the country, wave my flag, bang my drum, and try and generate football-style atmosphere and singing to support them. Several Swans regulars will be attending SFC matches. So slag them at their peril. As they are Sydney's number 1 supported club team for the last 9 years! JF

funny how they 4 million people to the one team in the city. rugby has for more clubs in syd than the swans. sydney people even prefer to watch league teams they dont follow than to watching the swans. hence corporate backing and t.v are much on the side of league than the swans in sydney.

League's a joke. Who plays it? NSW, Qld and pockets of England. That's it. NSW media carry on like it's the greatest game in the world, when the reality is virtually noone in the world gives a toss about it.

Thugby League is on the way to the level of the NBL or even club rugby in Sydney. When Australia becomes a fully fledged member of AFC the corporate dollar will flow in football's direction and Thugby League's only backup, the pokie palace League's clubs, will not be able to cope with the $$$ gap left by dwindling big corporate sponsorship. Only Ch9 and News Ltd will keep it going........but for how long? I predict the NRL will be like the NSL's last season within 10-15 years. They had their time in the sun and then they shot themselves in every appendage possible when the "vision" Super "Pooper" League came along..............the game won't die but its relevance in Australia's future sporting landscape will be greatly diminished.
Here endeth the lesson.....

While the move to the AFC should in theory increase the dollars into the FFA coffers, still have to produce the results on the pitch to get the interest/corporate support. As for "Thugby League" , regardless of the success of the Socceroos on international level, league will always retain No.1 spot in terms of the corporate dollars and crowd numbers in NSW/QLD Unfortunatly football in this country is going to be struggling for exposure for the forseeable future

gayfl is a game of mishandled and dropped balls. Completely without purpose. The level of support in Melbourne shows the lack of anything else to do down there. Cricket is nearly as interesting as watching paint dry or grass grow
Watch a real sport football forever
