We'll be hosting a chat session during each of the Tahiti WCC games, come and join us on http://www.sydneyfc-unofficial.com:
just click on SFCU chat on the sydneyfc-unofficial.com menu then click on main in the drop down box, you should be connected automatically with your SFCU username
the Java client doesn't work for some people, usually because they don't have the latest JVM ( Java virtual Machine) installed or they are still on NT4
If you cannot get the java chat client to work for whatever reason, here's a step by step guide to installing mIRC and connecting to #SFCU chat, its acutally very simple and will only take you 2 minutes to set up.
1. Download the mIRC client from www.sydneyfc-unofficial.com/Downloads/d_op=viewdownloaddetails/lid=4.html
Its only 1.2 mb so it won't take too long
2. Once the file is downloaded open the zip file and run mirc616.exe
3. Just accept the defaults unless you know what you are doing.
4. Start mIRC and click continue on the first window that pops up. mIRC is nagware, it won't stop working if you don't register, it just makes you wait a bit when it starts.
5 Another window will open, enter a name, an e-mail address and a nickname for chat, put an alternative in case anyone is already using yours, I recommend your forum name, for ease of recognition.
6. Click on 'Servers' on the left side of the window, the items on the right will change
7. From the IRC Network Drop-down box choose austnet as your default netrwork, below that, IRC Server should now read Austnet: Random AU server
8. Click'Connect to server' (make sure you are online)
9. When you connect (after you see a bunch of lines in the main window) the mIRC favourites window will open, click Add and type the following
Channel:#SFCU (all caps)
Password: (blank)
Description: SydneyFC-Unofficial.com chat
Network: Click "Add" then choose Austnet
10. Click on the join on Connect tickbox(so it will automatically open the chatroom each time you connect to austnet), then click OK
11. You will return to the mIRC favourites window, #SFCU will have been added to the list and all you have to do now is click join and you're in.
If you can't connect to austnet, its most likely a firewall issue, mIRC's default port is 6667, make sure its open on your firewall, if you're at work ask your friendly IT guy, I can't help with firewall configs, so please dont ask.
I'll be there from 11:30am onwards to let people test their connection before the game starts at 2:30
I'll be providing updates from the Sydneyfc.com website as they happen so please come along and join the fun.
