Well I've had a copy of those fixtures for a month and I assumed they were official, but now you say it I haven't seen them anywhere else since...

The only place I have seen it was on the NZ knights site, dated March 7th and saying that it was provisional and subject to change

I know were all abit starved of Football atthe moment, but doesn't this Pre Season Competition take something away from the A - League Competition ? Loz The only place I have seen it was on the NZ knights site, dated March 7th and saying that it was provisional and subject to change

There's stuff about it on the FFA Website. www.a-league.com.au/public/article/show.asp?articleid=8543&menuItemID=601Loz, I don't think the pre-season tournament will receive much publicity. Probably more then the CWC did, but not much. The FFA have said that they don't want anything to take away from the A-League debut. The CWC and Pre-Season Tournament, I believe, are just opportunities for the starved football supporters of Australia to see something of a domestic competition, to give the Clubs motivation to get their shit together and to gather some momentum for when the real deal kicks off.

Cheers for the Link, Factor I surpose it gives everyone a chance to see some more football and get their teams right for the season. Hopefully we can play well in this competition and not pick up and any injuires or suspension. I think the squad size should ready be 24 not 20. I think the squad size should ready be 24 not 20. I think you'll find it will be increased next season. Hopefully it incorporates the requirement to have 'X' amount of youth, or even a youth team. Who knows.

Anyone know if they are going to name the tournament after somebody? When Johnny Warren passed on everyone was saying that the pre-season tournament should be named after him.

To start, I think crowds should be pretty good. Once a bit of advertising gets underway and the season gets closer to kicking off, I think we'll season interest grow.
As for naming the Tournament, do we even know if it's going to be a regular thing, or just a one off?
I'm hoping next season the League is a bit longer and a Cup tournament is created, which may eradicate the need for a pre-season tournament.
Also remember that by then we'll officially be a part of the AFC, so I'd expect pre-season tours to take place, similar to what we did before the CWC.
