Here's to Sydney, we're true blue We are the champions through and through Victory are wankers, sooo they say (CANT THINK OF LINE TO PUT HERE) (CANT THINK OF LINE TO PUT HERE) Sydney FC, FC, FC, FC, FC, FC, FC, FC, FC!
Obviously sung to the tune of the traditional down a beer song!

I don't know if anyone else has thought of this. But as it is a new league we should take a leaf out of our team's book and develop the chants and support slowly. I know everyone wants to support Sydney FC just like the all the supporters support team "X". However we should do it slow and do it right and build the correct atmosphere and club culture for supporting a Sydney team.
A couple of ideas: One is keeping the chants really simple to start with. It is the simple "Sydney - Clap Clap - Sydney - Clap Clap" type chants that WILL spread around the ground - rather than an overly complicated song. If it is kept simple to begin with, we have the opportunity to get more people to join in. If we jump in too quick then the "fringe" fans (like me) may be left on the outer and wondering when a team they can support will be created. Remember there will be new fans joining from other codes, not just lifetime Football fans who watch every game on Foxtel and travel overseas to see games live.
Also, I think we should keep the chants clean. We are not supporting a "working class" team. And we are not a bunch of Geezers. Keep it clean, keep it simple and the more people around the stadium will not only keep coming back to games but also join in with the chants. By the end of the year, hopefully, the amount of chants we use will be bigger and will have evolved naturally. I want to support Sydney FC in the style of Sydney - which WE can be the ones who develop that, slowly but surely.
Any thoughts, or am I an idiot?

I see where your coming from, and agree that our "songsheet" as such should contain simple chants that can be picked up all around the ground, but that doesnt mean you cant sing complicated songs when your not chanting those type of songs...i mean ffs, im not chanting "sydney clap clap clap" for 90 minutes!!!!!! Maybe two or three times a game..but no more!

to the tune of "You are my sunshine":
Oh, mighty Sydney the only Sydney, you make me happy, when times are grey. The mighty Sydney, oh how I love you! So please don't take my Sydney away!
(sung in a low, deep, downbeat way....)

Footy ain't like that, its not clean. Its not necessarily deliberately vile, but no adult football fan can keep their language clean enough for the kiddies. Sit with the families if you want to get them going, but no ex-McCartney Terrace lads are going to keep their language clean. Or go and watch the Waratahs. But the KISS idea is not bad for the plebs.
