OK People Penalty Shoot-Outs.... Once again a premier tournament, the FA Cup, has been decided by spot kicks. At what point do we stop this farcicle way to decide major games and come up with a better solution. As a player that has missed penalties to knock my team out of a finals series and score the winning penalty in a Grand Final, I know the emotions first hand, if only at a lower league level. What are peoples thoughts on a solution to get a final result on the playing field and not resort to ridiculous ways. Cheers VV TEXT

How is this a ridiculous way to resolve a match. If there really is nothing seperating the two teams after 120 minutes of play then penalties is the only way! A shoot-out tests the quality and ability of the players of that team to perform under the heaviest pressure they have ever experienced, and of course try to outwit the keeper. If I remember right, our game is about being able to control your shot so that you get it in the right spot, penalties test those skills of the player. And for keepers, it tests them also. Keep them I say, they do wonders

So have you been on the end of a penalty shot out that meant everything to your team....and screwed up, cause if you had you wouldnt say what you just have How is this a ridiculous way to resolve a match. Here's an idea why not after full time scores locked, you drop a player off each side until a goal is scored....would that maintain a flow....and show who really wants the goal...

Dudes. I was so tired after 3 hrs of watching football, drinking 12 beers and demolishing 2 family supremes, that I really wanted to go to bed. I reckon keep the penalties. I couldnt keep my eye lids open any longer.

A possible solution could be to make the goalkeeper not use his hands in extra time.

A possible solution could be to make the goalkeeper not use his hands in extra time. And all the outfield players have to use hockey sticks

TBH I like the idea of a Penalty shoot out. In fact I prefer Golden Goal to Silver, its more exciting. After 90mins plus extra time and Silver goal penalties is a good way to end the match. Plus 120+ minutes is alot for the players.

Would be interesting to watch! and then we could change the name from football/soccer to AFL and have a final score of Sydney fc 26-16 melbourne vic. come on ppl penalties are the best way full stop.
