Not sure if this has specifically been discussed in previous threads or not.
Does anyone agree that it would better for the whole competition if brand images were a bit more, hmm, FOOTBALL oriented? Now some may say that we sydney-siders are a little too commercial and concentrate too much on aesthetics. I say we live in the real world, have higher standards and refuse to compromise. In other words, we keep it real. Say we could go back a year or so and get the naming of the clubs right, so that the whole competition, not just ourselves and adelaide, had been given proper football club names, how would you call it?
-Sydney FC: of course, and I like the shield but a more traditional look could work even better imo.
-VFC Melbourne: it may sound ridiculous but I can't help feeling that things would start to run more smoothly for them if they just got rid of that dikky name of theirs; VFC even rhymes with Victory.
-FC Brisbane - "The Strikers" (unofficial): really wish they'd got their shyte/money together and made this slight change. hate the very presence of 'meow' in the comp.
-Adelaide United: perfect, especially in the context of West/Juventus etc.
-Perth Glory: ok, every league has to have one club with a stupid name (I like tottenham) and since they love it now, then let them have it.
-Newcastle City FC: I don't mind that 'jets' motif but I don't think it should be official and everyone knows United makes more sense for Adelaide than them.
-Central Coast Mariners: hey, if you're gonna have a nick it should at least be human and not animal, a la wanderers, rovers, rangers, gunners etc. I don't mind mariners, I think it suits them.
-Aotearoa FC: ok, bare with me on this one. it's unique, it's intriguing (*I* think), it doesn't sound dumb, and it's new zealand... but it's not. Nickname, 'roa.
