Due to the bad press Football has had in recent weeks with riots etc do you think police presence and wowserism will be prevalent at the games? I am a big cricket fan but it sorta sucks going to a one day match these days because the crowd isnt allowed to have fun anymore. The stadium officials have banned beach balls, beer snakes, women showing their breasts and I think they even tried to outlaw mexican waves. Do you think A-League matches will be timid to an extent? Do you think it will affect the atmosphere of matches if we arent allowed to stand up and chant, wave big flags, start up mexican waves and do the normal things people do at football matches. I know police and security unfamiliar with football crowds could get nervous if big sections of a crowd get up and start chanting and just having a good time and therfore try to quieten us down.

I think there's alot of prejudice against football fans amongst the police. They believe that we're all a bunch of rioters, who could start trouble at any minute, and are far harsher on us than on other crowds.
Perhaps this is something for the FFA to consider working with the police/ government over?

It depends, if the Police and security staff treat Sydney FC fans the same way as Souths fan in The Burrow I can't see the atmosphere being affected. Fans in the Burrow chant, sing and stand up for pretty much the whole game and there hasn't been any major problems.

Our Club should Outline to the security what they should expect from the fans.

It's up to us to show them that we can have fun and not cause trouble.
singing and chanting and good natured heckling should be the order of the day ;D

certainly not timid on the field. The Mariner vs Newcastle was the most physical match I have seen in club competition in Australia in terms of physical intensity.
