Granted, but I think naming the team the 'Mariners' is just putting the mockers on them.

Everyone knows that the Gosford/Central coast area is Pauline territory-AKA Mount Druit by the sea. Not that I have a problem with that-Although Ill enjoy my home in the inner west of Sydney thanks ;D
I think that rivals codes have been really stupid in not setting up their and I think its a great opportunity for Football in the Central Coast.
I am still a little sceptical about it working though- Look at Singoe's Rugby team up their and I know that it wasnt the coast's club but the crap decision for Spirit to play games, what a massive 1000 people at those games? I know it was not your club but it makes you think.
I want to see it work as I am looking forward to road trips and kicking their ar4es. I mean face the facts a city of 4 million is not going to produce a substandard team against an area of ? 500 000 which borders 2 other areas of Newcastle/ Sydney who will nurture any decent player from their.
Realistically who would you want to play for- A city which is international or a town that you can go to club Troppo at Central Coast League's!!
Other teams of concern The NZ bid-due to apparent infighting Brisbane- Just by looking at the last 5 years of figures that attended games- considering there was only 1 team-regardless if it was a team that represented all the people!!

We can't wait to kick the s.hit out of you arrogant Sydney nongs A couple of people out of the 120 odd on this board have said they think CCM might fail and now you come out with the above comment. I agreed with all the rest of your post, but then you close it with that. Chip on the shoulder perhaps? I'm sure your comment would have scared off so many of the travelling fans. All you CCM/Breaker 'Rowdies' with all that Celery is a scary sight for sure.

That comment was not to be taken literally but was meant in the sense of what would happen on the pitch. Reading it back it did seem violent in a thuggery way - not intended as such.
As for Club Troppo - no local goes there any more. Saturday night there is full of Western Sydney meatheads that has resulted in some unsavioury incidents, including rapes. Any self-respecting female would not be seen there.
On the football side I have no doubt this will work. The Central Coast is a young area and does not have the cultural and sporting opprtunities that Newcastle and Sydney experiences.
Central Coast people are screaming out for areas in which they can showcase their area on a national scale - and avenue they can passionately support the Coast.
League and Thugby have missed their opportunity and they will rue it.
On the side of football talent coming out of the area lately we have produced the likes of Jamie McMaster, Jess Van Stratten, and young Bradley Porter at the AIS to name a few.
The expected boom in football in the next few years in the area will only improve the situation.
Of course it would unrealistic to assume we could have a 100% Coast team just like you will not have a 100% Sydney bred team.
We'll just make good buys along the way.

I think Melbourne and New Zealand are the clubs that have the most chance of failing. Central Coast may have trouble if the Central Coast don't get behind them. I don't think there is much doubt the Central Coast community won't get behind the Mariners. There is no regular mainstream rugby league, union, cricket or AFL. I think Central Coast could be the dark horse. They also have a great youth participation level. It's a market waiting to be tapped in if marketed correctly. You have a brand new stadium waiting to be filled. It's not far from the F3 Gosford exit either. Singleton was trying to get a rugby league team there but the NRL knocked it back, I think Singo will push the mariners (afterall he is a director of football australia) and Johnny wanted him to finish the football revolution in this country.

And we are starting to assemble a very competitive squad.
There has been all this talk about getting an overseas coach from Sydney FC.
In the meantime we have three coaches in McKinna, Ferguson, and Tobin, who have immense local knowledge and contacts.
If I was in Sydney's shoes I would rather a Culina, Theodor...., or Ange rather then an overseas coach.

To be honest I dont care if we get a local coach or an overseas coach so long as we get some one soon. Im a firm believer that proper preperation almost guarentee's success. So I'd like to see things get a move on before we have that mini comp for the WCC place.
