I know its quite a trivial topic at this point in time but discussing methods of travel to away games will eventualy be brought up. I'm sure there are others like myself that may find travelling around australia each week a little pricey but I would still like to get to a few. There are always cheap flights going so thats not realy a problem.
For the closer games like Newcastle and Gosford though maybe it would be an idea to hire out a coach for the supporters group. Would be well wikked yeah, everyone travelling up or down the coast together. Drinking, chanting and gee'n each other up for the game ahead.. Also imagine the faces of the home team crowd as they watch 50+ rowdy lads/lasses jump off the coach..
I'm sure a coach would work out pretty cheap per person in the end. There is always car pooling of course but I like the idead of coachin heh

I know the guy who put on most of the coachs in the first couple of season with Spirit and while they can be great, they are also a right pain to get working and not lose money.
Some things to consider - Where will they leave from (The SFS perhaps) Break even point. Lets say the bus has 40 seats, so you set the price to breakeven at 35 sold. Now if 35 people book, show up and pay all is good but if 35 book and only 28 front what do you do?
Another problem is when you go over numbers. Again lets say 75 people book and with two weeks to go another 25 people want to try and come. Do you get another bus and risk not filling the third, or do you turn some people away.
I'm not saying don't do it, in fact I think it's a great idea but I thought you might like to hear about some possible problems.

Can we add this topic to the whiteboard of things to discuss when we have a supporters meeting I think trips to Newy and Gosford can be car pooled at the beginning and if need be then we look at getting a coach. I'm not sure about interstate, I say melbourne we can do in a day but perth may be an overnighter which means a hotel fee and extra money.

Buses are great, and should deffinately be used if we have enough ppl to fill them. Its always great when away fans arrive together, pi$$ed loud and rowdy! For the Gosford and CC matches thoug, i would like to think we could get fairly big contingents going (150+ at least!) so it would be good to go on the train! Trains are good coz you can walk around etc...

Yeah Melbourne could be day in a day but I think I would prefer to fly down. I'm not a huge fan of sitting down in a coach/car for more then 6-7 hours so I would have to bail from that one. The coach idea was more for the statewide games. Trains are also a great idea.. garanteed to fit as many people on as you want plus probably half the price if not less then a coach would be hey. I just like the idea of all arriving in one big group.

i reckon that coaches are the way to go even though catchin a play interstate is good too.On coaches u can have more fun on i think but only if u have no prudes!!!!!!!.Obviously u cant catch a coach to NZ!!!.I remember this yr when the bulldogs went up to qld to play the broncos and the tones of fun u have goin up there. If we can get between 25-50 regular awat travellers then hopefully our beloved sydney fc will become more popular and in the process more people will come to the games home & away.

Fan Buses to Newcastle and the Central Coast would be superb.

Top idea - away derbies at Newcastle and Central Coast have great potential.
The Spirit buses of the past did run at a loss, but hopefully with the new league there would be a bit more interest - enough to fill the bus at least.

It would be worth considering approaching the club to help fun away trips (like Pickard did this year at Adelaide Utd) in the initial stages to encourage fans to go.

We used to fly down and back the same day when Olympic played in Melbourne, and we stayed the night in Auckland, Perth and Adelaide...
By far the best away trip is Perth, it is always a good experience, especially when you win...
Must always highlight Perth as the mega away trip....
