it would be nice to get these players but with the salary cap the way it is I think it might be that we will only be able to get one or two of this class and then the marquee player, most of the players mentioned here are on big$$ that cannot be matched here in Australia which is dissapointing to say the least!!!

...Michael Baird...(blonde guy with head band) you should see this guy play....i wacthed him in the johnny warren cup and he scored two goals in the final...and ive seen him play before... Correct me If i'm wrong but I believe he may have signed for the Queensland Lions? Which is dissapointing, because am I right in saying he was the one who scored that stunner in the JWC final? Ah well, plenty more fish in the sea for Sydney I reckon.

I don't mean to be pessimistic, but I think the best we can hope for in the first season, is a glamorised revamp of the NSL, with a somewhat better local talent pool because of the fewer number of teams. I hope i'm proved wrong and with the marquee salary rule I might be, but either way, if you take the best of the best from the NSL, there should be some reasonably decent football on offer.

Yeah,I think the first season or two will be a revamped NSL level with a few big name marquee players. If we do our bit and turn up so SFS is full the club will make millions and they can start looking at raising the salary cap. Then we might start seeing some of the names mentioned on here as signings coz we will be able to afford them.

How come no one even mentions young talents in this forum!?
Theres so many of them out there playing in NSW premier league!
I watch these games everyday and each team has at least one 18-19 year old player that is good!
Saw Labie Haliti score a hatrick for Sydney utd the otha day against Parramtta that guy has everything, hes young hes fast can score goals with both legs etc.
Yet all we want is overseas players when there is so many local undiscovered stars or talents around here all we have 2 do is send some scouts to watch these games and pick some good young players with bright future!

I agree & this is why we will definitely require a second division down the track. There is a lot of great talent in this country which is in danger of being be lost.
We will always lose our top tier talent to overeas clubs and fair enough. The second tier players will get a run in the "A" league however we really should give the players who will not gain a contract in the "A" league something to aspire to here in Australia and offer that "stepping stone". Some players mature later than others. Not all players are ready at 18 or 19..
