He's been doing OK but not exactly setting the world on fire. Things must be desperate to even consider him.

I think he was exceptional with little help from McFlynn in the final vs CC.
The guy is classy. I dont recall too many times when his passes didnt find their man. I think its about time.

Germany have been on the slide for about 6 or 7 years mate, they're down to 19th in the rankings behind the republic of ireland and Turkey, they're not even in the top 10 in Europe. Sorry but their golden years are gone. With all due respect to Talay, getting into the German squad means he's quite good for a German at that position, not that he's suddenly one of the best in the team.

whoops!!!! my f**k up..... sorry boys..... but i still do think germany are one of the top nations even though they have dropped alot of places over the years.... but they havent been on the slide for 6 or 7 years cause i remember at one stage at the last world cup they were favorites...and if i recall right they lost the final to brazil....so they almost won it!! though since then they have been dropping positions in world rankings

Germany has suffered in the rankings due to having no meaningful matches since Euro 04 - having an uncharacteristic poor showing at that tournament did not help either.
Germany seems to have the exact same problem as Australia - a lack of world class strikers and too many old, underperforming players. Klinsmann has being using all the friendlies to try out heaps of young players so they have not been performing that well. Hopefully they will have a strong showing in 2006 but they should have been rebuilding since World Cup 2002 rather than Euro 2004... again, same as Australia really.
