the teams must attempt to play attractive football. I'm not talking just goals here, i'm talking general play. Unfortunately, coaches in Australia place too much emphasis on results rather than how the game is played as a whole. Coaches are pleased with scrappy 1-0 results rather than a well played 2-0 loss. Our level of play is not sophisticated enough to be worried about results just yet. Football supporters won't be fooled if the 8 A-League teams put on crap games even if the scoreline is 5-4. Forget trying to copy the English Premier League. We should be using the Dutch 1st Division as a model to copy. They produce the best young players because they are encouraged to play the game the right way.

So perhaps more talented South American/African/ even Asian youngsters could have been imported to increase the quality of the league, rather than bringing back 33-year-olds from second and third tier European leagues, that's my view anyway.
However, for the first few years at least, the A-League is about bringing interest back to football in Australia. Names like Dwight Yorke will do this.

Well with only 20 man squads the A-League teams could really afford to buy guys that would take atleast a season to find their feet in Australia. When they get bigger sqauds then we hopefully get more Africans and South Americans. Also most of the older European players only heard of the league cus of the Australians at their clubs or leagues. I doubt many South Amercians know about the A-league, their probably a few Africans cus we coaches their, but their not much exposure for the players.
