And before you start, yes I know there are many 'ultras' supporters groups who are simply passionate fans, but there are plenty of active hooligans usng the 'ultras' name. Which type do you think that the press will compare us to if we take on that name. Oh and its totally unoriginal.

dont tie it back to ethnicity??ur the nieve one..ur acting like all aussies r angels..they have never been in a fight in a sporting match..fights dont happen between aussies..man just shut up and lets all move on..its a small bunch of idiots that have nothign better to do..dont judge..turn ur head n just ignore the shit if ur sick of it and let the board ressolve the issue..this is australia even if there was a fight between 50 ppl at an AFL match or a league or union match between aussies it would never have been reported..no1 would give a f**k..but its football and ethnics so it HAS to go in the paper Not once have I insinuated that Australian sports fans are angels. Quite the opposite. I've seen alot of ugly stuff on and off the field in various sports. The majority of those HAVE appeared in the papers. That's not the issue. The issue is people like yourself trying to defend what has been going on recently as not being ethnically based, despite the fact that you've stated it's had a long history and is instigated by those who came here a few years ago. You then also say that the Club's shouldn't be punished. That's complete and utter BS. The Club's have a responsibility to society and to supporters. They've failed miserably while they've allowed these people, to use the word losely, to use football as a soapbox to vent their hatred towards each other. It's funny. These ethnic supporters who get their backs up when calls are made to remove ethnic ties from Clubs are complete jokes. Supporting a Club because of its ethnic ties is a poor reason. Yes, Croatians, Lebanese, Greek, Turks have supported the game in Australia for along time, and it's something they should be proud of, but they don't own the game, nor should they be given permission to ruin it for the others. Call me racist if you like, it won't change my opinion on the matter. I haven't made it a race issue. The f*ckwits carrying on have.

ok for one..how can the club control the fans?? if u were AT the game u would clearly know that it was the fault of the police for letting out the fans for one and for 2..the police were holding up the bus because they were searching it so the croatian fans had nowhere to go..wtf..they left 15 mins before we did but they're bus was being held up by the police..if everything had gone to plan then none of this would have happened..so still if they saw how fired up we were then y would they release us..its ridiculous..
the club has always been "serbian" or "croatian" for that fact..it was set up by our relatives who came here many years ago and whats wrong with that?? can we not accept that fact? sydney united used to be called sydney croatia..its the one thing that ties the community together..its were our communites socialise and go down and enjoy themselves..its thier teams.. so y try and take away what we started..the hatred will still go on no matter what u change bonnyrigg or syd utd into..its history is still there

If The Sydney Push gets used in official material then perhaps a little blurb to explain the origin and idea behind the term would be helpful to market the (what looks to be) supporter "club".

I really can't believe that calling an official supporters group "The Push" - after a violent gang/group of extreme leftist academics is a sensible idea.
What the hell has it got to do with football in Sydney?!?

You're the one who objected to the use of Push because of its gang name history, I was just pointing out that ultras has exactly the same, if not worse, links, how can you object to push on that basis and not object to ultras. Thank you for proving my point for me. Popularity is a crappy basis for making a choice like that, hundreds of millions of people watch American, Australian,Armenian & anywhere else Idol, its probably the most popular tv show in the world, but its still fake bullshit and its poplularity doesn't make it quality TV. PS if you want people to stop talking about ethinc bullshit in football to you, you should take the first step by changing your name. PPS your excuse that the police were somehow to blame for the United/Bonnyrigg ethinc violence is bullshit, they didn't start the fighting, they didn't provoke anyone and they certainly didn't start all this shite.

What the hell has it got to do with football in Sydney?!? What do any of the suggestions have to do with football in Sydney? If the pre-requisite was for the name to have something to do with football in Sydney, we'd be called the Sydney FC Supporters...
