I've been thinking about the comments of Craig Moore recently (admitedly, taken out of context) RE: Farina's performance. Hypothetically, say Farina got the bullet tomorrow, who would you replace him with?
I personally have lost all time for Frank. He just gives me the impression of being too inactive and conservative (eg. sticking to same line-up, same formation AND SHOWING OPPONENTS FAR TOO MUCH RESPECT eg Turkey), to be the right man for what is one of the toughest assignments in world football.
Much as I disliked watching his style, I really think as a short term appointment Zoran Matic would be the choice for the task. He is one of the few coaches who we could get at such short notice (without serious $$$) who I have complete faith in. He is sharp as a tack, and I would back him to sure up our defence, and not be trumped by the wiley Sth Americans. Admittedly, I could see him stultifying our attacking strength....but fark, with Farina it is compromised anyway by his fear of big-name opponents. Not that I'm saying we shouldn't show respect.... hell, I'm not that arrogant and know we have weaknesses, but by the the same token we have enough class in the team (Bresc, Cahill, Dukes, Kewell, Moore, Neill, Swartz) stand up and be counted.
That is, of course, if we can't find a more qualified coach. But in any event, at least with Matic I wouldn't have the feeling of being dead on arrival as I do with Frank at the helm.
(Oh, and for the record, I'm am praying that Frank pulls it off and I'll be eating humble pie come November)
