The Confederations Cup is coming up and us Sydney fans are a little concerned that Clint Bolton may be a last minute call up. Not what FC needs when they are battling it out to win $1.2million. But Bolton wouldn't be in this situation if Farina capped Joey Didulica. Didulica asked him for many months to be given a chance and when he went public about not being included in the Socceroos squad, Farina's response was he have to wait for his chance. Wait for his chance? I understand that national coaches shouldn't be told who to select for their starting XI but when Croatia are ready to pounce on him, maybe capping him once is better for Australia in the long term. Farina didn't think like that though. Didluca was soon called up for Croatia and accepted his new national team. Now I believe Didluca is better than Kalac and in 4 years time who knows how rocksteady 37 year old Schwarzer will be. I was just wondering how you guys feel about this situation and Aussies who go and represent other countries?
Also here is a list of Australians with dual nationalities who now represent other countries; Craig Johnston (England) Tony Dorigo (England) Sasa Ilic (Serbia and Montenegro) Sean Cooney (Ireland) Ivan Ergic (Serbia and Montenegro) Buddy Farah (Lebanon) Michael Reda (Lebanon) Jamie McMaster (England) Michael Panopoulos (Greece) Peter Pullicino (Malta) Richard Porta (Uruguay) Jamie Young (England) Kyle Nix (England) Shane Smeltz (New Zealand) Christian Vieri (Italy)

Scott McDonald of Motherwell (2 goal hero in win over celtic on sunday) is eligible to play for Scotland as well, he has so far resisted the temptation of playing international football with the Scots, as he desperately wants to play in the green and gold.
Surely Farina must blood this kid (21), I believe he is the future of the socceroos. I just dont want to keep seeeing kids that the AIS has produced, being snapped up by other countries because their parents are from overseas. What do you guys reckon?

Gotta agree with the lot of you... I always feel a bit aggrieved that Frank always seems to stick with the same team even in friendlies.
If it were me I'd cap a few other people just to test them out and at least make sure they're not available for other countries.

Yes. I agree that we should cap players in the friendly matches. It not only gives us a broader spectrum of players, but gives them invaluable international experience. Our team is ageing, and we have not been blooding enough players to compensate for this. What happens when we get injuries to key players come World Cup time hmm, we would have to play players without enough experience against world beaters.
While on the World Cup, can players be included in the squad who have not played for the country, or can we select whom ever we want ?
