How long do you think it will take for the A-League to start adding more teams to the league and who do you think will be the first teams?

They will need to find one or two teams soon. I think it is inevitable that either Central coast or the NZ team will struggle financially and might go bust (although I hope not).

There's a push for a Canberra based team to join in a few years, but the way the Cosmos were supported I don't think it'll happen until the A-league is really firing.

Haha I think your getting a bit ahead of yourself. Right now the quality of the league is good(ie spread of players) and the crowds are decent. And the league hasn't even kicked off!!! I reckon we should stick to 8 teams for about 2-4 seasons making sure they are properly founded and then maybe introduce another 1 or maybe 2 teams in different areas.

I think the Central Coast should be fine, The Tards are the worry - they still need to find $1.5 million and a home ground! There is also a business man from Townsville who has been in the papers at least twice saying he wants to back a team in Townsville since the A-League launch.

I fully 100% back the bid for Alice Springs Rovers to be admitted into the 2007/08 season as they have excellent stadia and a lack of national representation.

Alice Springs - now theres an idea. In the long-term future I'd basically like to see 2 teams per state introduced 1 or 2 at a time.

I think we should get a Parra or Penrith team sooner rather than later.

I think we should get a Parra or Penrith team sooner rather than later. Im not sure about that mate, we probably need to consolidate the football sydney market first, then perhaps look into a western sydney team (blacktown/penrith) where football is on the up. But im not sure another sydney team would be needed for at least five years.

I'm sure that initial A-Leauge Licences are for 5 years? I'd say that's when they have set a time to re-asses everything. This is why I think Queensland roar is such a stupid name. How can they represent Queensland when there may be a gold coast or townsville team in the future.

Point to consider:
Teams have a five year guarantee that they will be no other team in that city in that time. Therefore there will be no second Sydney team till at least year six.

Uh-uh. not sydney or melbourne. only the other cities. they could give either of us another team in season 2 if they really wanted.

I don't reckon there'll be any expansion for at least 4 or 5 years, but when there is, these are some options;
in no particular order: Geelong Nth Queensland Oceania (a composite team from the rest of the confederation, obviously minus NZ and Aus, home games shared between the participating territories) Tasmania West Sydney or south/coal coast ie Wolves old territory(prolly not both in the near future)

i dont think there will be any new teams atleast after 3-5 yrs. At first b4 any teams were chosen i was hoping there would be 2 sydney teams one from the west and in the east i would have been the suporter of the team from the west since i live in penrith however since that wasnt the cae i and its 1 sydney team i have become obsessed with Sydney FC and so have many fans from the west so to make a new team from the west would definetly brake up a decent amount of Sydney FC fans.For this reason i hope Sydney FC is the only sydney team. Having said that i definetly think woolongong deserve a team,canberra should get one also tasmania and townsville thats 4 teams which should be enough for atleast another 5 yrs after that.
