I was thinking, given the slim nature of the A-League squads at only 20 places per side, what happens if a side has enough players out injured to not field a full side w/ full bench? It seems conceivable, given that it would only require 3 injured players to not be able to field a full bench (assuming 7 players are allowed to take the bench). Even if benchs are restricted to 5 players, having 6 players of your 20 injured is still well within the realms of possibility. On the same note, what happens if both of an A-League squads Goalkeepers fall ill? In both cases it's not like the clubs have reserves or juniors to fall back on... Therefore my question is will A-League clubs be able to make emergency loan signings from State League clubs should an injury crisis neccesitate such a move? And if not, what does the FFA have as a contingency plan for a situation that looks likely to pop up sooner or later, especially given the 'physical' style of play that the majority of Australians prefer.

I've been thinking about this for a while myself. There will no doubt have to be some rule in place to brings players in on loan. With most State League competitions playing the same time I would expect the players to be drawn from these comps.

ah, but i believe that FIFA has just rejected the possibility of dual registrations. If that is so that would effectively prevent this from taking place

There are advantages and disadvantages to a squad of 20. The advantage will be there will not be a squadron of talent laying idle on the bench.I suppose in desperate circumstances clubs could have reserves or even players that are out of position.
