In no particular order... Micheal Franti, Beatles, Jack Johnson, Xavier Rudd, Cat Empire, Hilltop Hoods, Linkin Park, Black Eyed Peas, Tupac, YellowCard.... Also like various forms of dance music when im goin hard at 3am as well...wouldnt listen to it when i wasnt dancing though I fricken hate Linkin Park. So full of fake teen angst when they have squillions in the bank. They're such massive fakers.

To be honest i dont really listen to their lyrics that much...just like their music. Simple Plan though on the other hand...CANT STAND THEM...for the exact reason you stated above. That "Cant be Perfect" song was shocking..decent tune, but the lyrics are cringworthy.

Punk, hardcore, emo, screamo, metal....basically anything with a hard edge. Though by the same token, also love RHCP, Jack Johnson and some other soft rock. But mainly stuff like Butterfly Effect, Tool, Funeral for a Friend, Sum 41, NOFX, old Metallica, Atreyu.... its a long list.
Oh, and I too love dance when pissed at 3am! ;D

I was kinda hoping some other Sydney FC fans were into Punk, Hardcore and Metal. Bands like Kill Your Idols, Sick of it All, Toe to Toe, Turbonegro, Unearth, AVO, Charter 77 and Madball have been getting high rotation at home and in my discman lately.
Do you get out to many shows, Riverrat? I take it you'll probably be out at the Atreyu, Unearth and Norma Jean show either tonight or tomorrow?

All sorts. From modern-ish hip hop - Jurassic 5, the Roots, Outkast, back to De La Soul, A Tribe Called Quest etc.
Through to stuff like Wes Montgomery, John Coltrane, Herbie Hanthingy and so forth.
Real love is rock music though. 311, A Perfect Circle, Muse, Modest Mouse, the Shins, Butterfly Effect, Incubus, Kaiser Chiefs, Kasabian, Faith No More, Tool, The Clash and so forth.
Don't mind a bit of electronic stuff like Groove Armada, Thievery Corp., The Streets etc.
MattO - did you see the Shins when they toured the other month? I was at the 2nd show at the Metro, thought it was brilliant.

Pity I locked my keys in my car and ended up missing Unearth, Norma Jean and the other support LOL.....and talking to the stoned dude out front, they were awesome too! At least I caught Atreyu. Also saw From Autumn to Ashes couple weeks back. Also, recently have seen IKTPQ and Strike Anywhere. I go to gigs fairly regularly

I go to gigs fairly regularly Norma Jean were pretty damn impressive, I'd never heard anymore than 2 of their sogns beforehand, Unearth were the best of the night for me but I can't f**king stand Atreyu. I left after about 3 songs, I just wanted to see if the drummer looked as shit as his voice sounds.. and yep, he did.

LOL....WTF was with his 'emo' hair..... he just looked like a balding fat arse with a comb over. As for Atreyu, I like some of their stuff.... but I wasn't moshing to it (though that was mainly because the mosh consisted of a bunch of guys just leaning on each other.....i'll pass). Pity I missed Norma Jean and Unearth for aforementioned reasons. What's been your fav gig? Mine has to be Butterfly Effect in Feb this year at the Gaelic.....that was simply incredible

ok unfortuneatly i cant lump my music tastes into categories as its too diverse and ppl just think 'man this chick just doesnt know how to distinguish anything from ANYTHING'... so ill do my best... ive studied music my whole life so im well accquainted with 'classical' - debussy being king there. but i grew up listening to my folks 'classics' - the beatles, the stones, the who, jimi hendrix, the doors, bob dylan, simon and garfunkel, bob marley, david bowie (close to god ha), john lennon, james brown, aretha franklin, queen. then a crazy old aunt who new what a little drama queen i was left me all her old jazz, cabaret and musical records when i was about 9, so that really set me up.. ella, frank, dino, miles, coltraine, louis... you name it she had it. that pretty much whacked me into a jazz band really early, so im well into the aussie jazz scene now too... i guess now im into mainly blues and roots (left wing music my fascist father likes to call it ).. hehe im a reg at bluesfest. jbt, jack johnson, michael franti and spearhead, ben harper, ben lee, the whitlams, missy higgins, franz ferdinand, the killers, scissor sisters, muse (my god absolution is good), scribe, turbonegro, cky, a perfect circle, NIN, ben folds (changed my life hehe), oasis, xavier rudd, luka bloom, ozomatli, rastawookie, the whitlams, the arcade fire (if you havent heard these guys yo MUST), silverchair, norah jones, hehe il divo, jamie cullum, amici, they might be giants, reel big fish, the dandy warhols, the dissociatives... and a tonne of underground artists on fbi and triple j. the list goes on for far too long... but for the past 2 years i guess ive lived and breathed the cat empire. theyre just a total emalgamation of all my musical tastes! im part of their street team and occasionally work their merchandise table in sydney gigs. i cant begin to describe how brilliant i think they are... so ill stop. top 5 concerts - in no order at all. thats too tough. -the cat empire (any one really, but i guess at the speigeltent when i first heard them takes the cake) -ben harper and jack johnson in wollongong -the bens - ben folds, lee and kweller at the enmore -elana stone, james muller, phil stack and my mate rai at the vanguard -robbie williams, duran duran and MGF at our beloved aussie stadium! oh and the bluesfests of course peace, becca j xoxo PS- youre probably thinking, wow does this chick ever shut up? and in all honesty no, i dont. hehe im a self-confessed parrot (but a loveable one hopefully). its just there are only a few things im really crazy passionate about. music is probably the topmost thing... haha well maybe
