when the ffa and the a-league was born the broom only went through half of the joint. i think after the world cup we should put the broom the the onfield side of the organisation. i assume we will have alot of retirements then so it may make the job easier. we MUST start with farina and arnold. any ideas on who goes with them?

If we're going to turf Farina and Arnold, we have to bring in competent replacements.
Don't just go chucking any old coach in instead.
We've made this mistake too many times before. Our problem is that unless we start getting some decent performances, noone of much quality is going to want to coach us.
It's all well and good to say axe so and so, but you need to provide a replacement at the same time.

Don't even get me started on what needs to be done besides the A-League! ;D
As for the natio squad, coaching staff, Muscatt, Vidmar, Popavic, Sterj, Chippers that I can think of at the moment.
Assuming we get into Asia, there is the 2007 Asian Cup to llok forwadr to, we need to bring in some younger players and see if they can do the deed.
Possibles include, McDonald, Thwaite, Kisnorobo, Coyne, Jones, and a whole bunch of others!

there are plenty of managers out there who are capable as long as the ffa is willing to spend the cash. dont forget the only reason we got farina in the first place is because he was willing to do the job for $200 000 a year or whatever pittance he is on. as hilly said there is plenty of young whipper-snappers who deserve a shot in the team. i really dont think our depth is a problem as long as the boys get regular international games with decent opposition

Possibles include, McDonald, Thwaite, Kisnorobo, Coyne, Jones, and a whole bunch of others! sterj has been played out of position nearly every game, chippers has been one of our best performers, vidmar's not too bad i don't think thwaite is that good, either is coyne, jones shouldn't be getting a run yet...guys like kalac, petkovic are ahead of him

I'd be interested to know how you got your opinon of Coyne. It's not like we actually see him play.

Thing is you have to give them a run. We need players that are good at International level, not good club players who are the best to represent our country. Understand what I mean? There is a difference?

We probably can't really afford to pay millions for a manager can we?

our 1st step would obviously be to get rid of farina and bring in a good coach from overseas wif experience in the world cup.alot of experince. once we get that man im sure he'll make good selections and now that we are in asia(unless if it backfires...better not) that means more international games so im sure he will give youngsters a better chance then they have got while farina has been incharge. the hardest thing is finding the right manager but im sure the FFA will make the right choice so far they been doing a fairly good gob.

Yeah there would be alot of managers out there with the technical and tactical knowhow to take us up a notch. Somebody who can bleed our young players into internationals at the highest level, isnt that the point of having youth teams??? The money is a key part of it I agree but there are other alternatives that might be considered. I mean if Sydney FC (a club in a new league), can secure a coach like Pierre surely a national team with tournaments such as the World Cup, Confeds Cup can get a great coach aswell.

anyone here heard of Bora Milutinovic? he has coached the USA, Mexico, Costa Rica, Nigeria and China all to the world cup..thats ALOT of experience..taking charge of Mexico in 1986..so thats nearly 20 years of world cup experience under his belt which is pretty outstanding..he has also taken 4/5 teams to the second round, mexico into the quarter finals. He took china to their first world cup. His currect world cup record stands at 8-6-3 which is faily decent.
he stepped down from coaching the Honduran NT one year ago after taking them into the third round of CONCACAF qualifiers for Germany, saying someone else should take them the rest of the way..but anyways
he would not be such a bad option seeing his record..and i doubt he'd be taking such large pay checks seeing as though hes coached teams like Costa Rica and Honduras.
thoughts?

I'd love to see Milutinovic as a Technical Director if not the NT team manager

I heard Pierre Littbarski is going to take over the national team. He will continue to be manager of SydneyFC as well. Just like on Championship Manager....it allows you to be a club manager and and also an international one at the same time. ahaha

That's pretty impressive. But I must admit, he probably deserves it for signing Phil Jagielka and Michael Dawson from Nottingham Forest. What a bargain. And what about getting Ronaldo after bidding 99million pounds and changing his bid to 0pounds before they responded. Genius!
