A simple, tried and tested thread but definately a goodie-what would your football dream team consisting of current players only be? Keeping in mind that i'm a Liverpool fan who very much admires Barcalona, i'd have to go for a 4-3-3 consisting of:
Henry (Arsenal)--------------Eto'o(Barca) ------------------R'Dinho(Barca)---------------- Gerrard(L'pool)--------------------Deco(Barca) ---------------------Xabi(L'pool)-------------------- R.Carlos(Madrid)-Nesta(Milan)-Terry(Chel)-Puyol (Barca) -----------------------Buffon(Juve)------------------
And on the bench: Baros(L'pool) Nedved(Juve) Bresciano ;D(Parma) Carragher (L'pool) Niemi (So'ton)

my team: ---------------------Shevchenko-----Charisteas----------------
------Figo--------Zagorakis--------Basinas------------Ronaldo
-----Roberto Carlos--------Kapsis------------------Seitaridis
---------------------------Dellas------------------------------------- -------------------------Buffon--------------------------------------
now in theory my team would kill any of your teams no offense............i would have by far the best defense and id have the best two target men in the busines who would hold the ball up well and lay it of to basinas who would playmaker the team and pass it to cristiano ronaldo and figo who would carve up the other trams defense and put crosses in...........where charisteas and shevchenko score.........if we lose it we have 2 defensive mid Zagorakis and another in Basinas to get the loose ball etc
sorry guys this is year of the underdog u should know that look at los galacticos with all these stars they lose 3 - 0 to espanyol

My Defence is better then yours becuase I have the two strong defenders in the centre that will chop and annoy your strikers without the referee knowing. Also you have extra speed down the wings with Terry and Campell. They will also provide support for the midfielders. The two central midfielders never even heard of them. In Euro 2004, wasnt greece playing Karagounis in Central Midfield until he was suspended for the final?. My Team would make light work of yours.

When i said i never even heard of them, it wasnt meant to sound sarcastic. I was just wondering who they were. But my team has the experience to beat yours because of the world cup winners in the side.

My team is the following
gk: Khan df: Robben Ballack Carlos mf: Figo Gerrard Ronaldhino Zidane Nevded st: Schevchenko Henry
All the goal keepers these days seem to be making mistakes so I chose Khan on being able to speak the same language as Ballack the only central defender. My philosophy is to choose the best players rather than those who play in the position.

nicklar......why have u got ballack and robben in defense lol? I think Ballack would make a good central defender because of his height and ability in the air. Robben is quick on his feet, and can defend the right wing. He can also overlap with Figo. My theory is to maximise the attack, so the team can dominate possession. The other aspect is to have each individual player being a dangerous attacker capable of shooting outside the area.

Robben can't defend. He is quick but short and stocky. He always leave's gaps in midfield where his team mate's have to cover for him. Ballack is only good in attack. I think Bayern Munich have tryed him in defence early in his career and he has failed.

I don't know which Robben you are talking about, the one I am talking about now plays for Chelsea and is about 180cm in height of thin build. I don't know about how good a defender he is ,but his speed will compensate for that. I would allow him the freedom to come forward as often as possible. Gerard will be the one to cover in defence. I think Ballack is getting more involved defensively from watching him play in European cup matches, certainly more than he did in the past. I think he would be better set up now for defending than at a younger age.

You can be the fastest guy in the world but still can't defend. A good defender is strong and agressive. Robben doesn't look either. Also compared to other players, he is short. Also Bayern Munich or most of the clubs in Europe play a different style from their leauge competition in Europe. They have to change their formations and style of play to cater the other teams. So maybe they had to put Ballack in a defensive midfield postition but not in defence.
