I believe there is a soccer NSW (soon to be football NSW) AGM tomorrow so I guess whoever gets elected will set the direction.

SBS were quite confident that the talk in the camp was that soccer NSW would pull out. There has obviously been some dissillusionment amongst some of the board members. Irrespective of that, they (snsw) must have friggin rocks in their heads. It's the best thing that could happen to soccer nsw, and they are about to bite themselves in the foot. It will all happen at the agm today, as Tancred says.

The only positive I can see is that it removes any suggestion of conflict of interest with snsw being associated so closely with the mighty Sydney FC whilst the Mariners and a future western Sydney team(?)are also in NSW.

In that case it makes sense for soccer NSW to pull out.
But if they do pull out will this affect the finances of SFC in any way? Have Soccer NSW contributed to the franchise financially?
I wonder how Nick Politis would feel now if this happens? His bid was beaten by the fact that Soccer NSW backed SFC...

Although i dont know if what is being reported will eventuate or not, one must remember that SBS also reported that Roy Hodgson was going to coach Sydney FC! I'll believe it when/if it happens.

Here's the anouncement.
SOCCER NSW CUTS TIES WITH SYDNEY FC
Soccer NSW has pulled out of its involvement with Sydney FC amid claims the A-League club has become a plaything for Frank Lowy and his family. The dramatic announcement came at the state governing body's annual general meeting yesterday at which concerns were raised about what has been perceived as Lowy's autocratic style in establishing the club. The AGM was told that Soccer NSW's board had decided on Wednesday to end its eight-month affair with the A-League, blaming external influences from Sydney FC for its pull-out. A statement released after the meeting failed to mention the decision but a Soccer NSW insider told The Sun-Herald: "We have cut ties, totally." Soccer NSW stakeholders, including juniors, amateur players and state league clubs, had raised concerns about a perceived lack of consultation on key Sydney FC issues. These included: The choice of Aussie Stadium at Paddington over Parramatta Stadium as the team's home ground. The selection of Soccer NSW technical director Branko Culina as inaugural coach being overruled. AdvertisementAdvertisement The appointment of Lou Sticca, a Melbourne-based player agent, as recruitment consultant. The erosion of Soccer NSW's initial 100 per cent involvement to just 25 per cent. The signing of a 20-year-old American college player, Alejandro Salazar, ahead of young NSW hopefuls in a tight team roster. Soccer NSW being unable to get its preferred candidates elected to the Sydney FC board. Stakeholders also said there were concerns about corporate governance and transparency in the establishment of the club. Top of that list was the decision to appoint Lowy favourite Andrew Kemeny as chief executive ahead of several high-calibre alternatives. Kemeny, a former Sydney City heavyweight when the Lowy-backed team was part of the National Soccer League, has since declined the role. "Sydney FC is no longer the people's team," said one Soccer NSW insider, speaking on condition of anonymity. "It may as well now be called Sydney City." Soccer NSW, which was expecting to provide a $1.25 million investment in the club, now faces the bizarre situation of having walked away from the club it effectively formed. Club chairman Walter Bugno yesterday played down the decision and said there were still plans for the club and the state federation - which holds the key to massive marketing opportunities through its grassroots membership - to work together. "It's not the end of the relationship," Bugno said. "I am quite comfortable with the situation and quite comfortable where we are at. "There was nothing signed and nothing agreed with Soccer NSW about their involvement. There are a number of options for them to have involvement and we will have a close link in the future." Bugno strongly denied accusations the club had steamrolled Soccer NSW on certain issues or that individuals had dictated club policy. "There is no autocratic management style," he said. "In fact, I would say that it is quite the opposite." Sydney FC is continuing its search for an international coach but Bugno said there would be no decision made before Christmas. Nick Theodorakopoulos, shunned by Sydney FC for their coaching position, is one of the final two candidates in line to lead Melbourne Victory in next year's league.

Good riddance I say.I think we just avoided having a Labozetta style influence having a 25% say in the club.

Why is this such a big deal? How many other clubs have the state federation as a financial shareholder ... it seems to me that this will be better for Sydney FC ... no leaks and politics from the people from the Soccer NSW board who have to make comments under the condition of anonymity ... gutless if you tell me.
Go Sydney FC ... make us proud

Exactly. They are at it in the old Labozetta style already. They have one vote in four as 25% shareholders but they want all the decisions to go their way. When they don't they sulk and go home. Then their long time friends in the media start the sniping"its Lowy's toy'..."its just Sydney City" etc etc etc.If they had stayed in they would have been disrupting things like this during the season and it would have been the same old same old.Good riddance. And don't bother sniping in the media coz you are now irrelevant as far as the management of Mighty Sydney FC is concerned.

Soccer NSW has pulled out of its involvement with Sydney FC amid claims the A-League club has become a plaything for Frank Lowy and his family. Given the wealth of the Lowy family, is it really that bad that the Lowy family wants to get involved in the club? I don't think so. The choice of Aussie Stadium at Paddington over Parramatta Stadium as the team's home ground. If they are still banging on about this then I am glad they are gone. Parra stadium is not a place for Sydneys team to play. The crowds at Power games were never very good. Let a western Sydney team play out there and let SFC play at the SFS. Soccer NSW being unable to get its preferred candidates elected to the Sydney FC board As they only have 25% just how did they expect to get their people onto the board!?! They don't have the numbers so they are taking the ball and going home. There might be an upside to all this however. If Soccer NSW really want to have an A-League club perhaps westievelle FC can be started by them.

Yeah. And when they do start up their own westie club, there will already be some perceived existing antagonism to give rise to some good derbies.

If you guys saw TWG today, Sydney FC boss was replying to those complaints by SNSW. And really man they are piss-weak reasons, anyway if SNSW are so stubborn that they wont budge on such minor issues then we are better of without them.
Plus this will make it much easier for a future club to enter the league from sydney. Say from the penrith side of somewhere, when SNSW was a stakeholder the odds would to much in favour of SydneyFC and a future club would find extremely difficult.
Also SNSW is riddled with the ex-nsl clubs, and its probably better that we move further away from that scene.
