Go to the matches, see how it pans out and let names, songs etc evolve from the experience. Anything that comes out of that will be superior to the crap on this board.
Well in alfie...

Not every1 wants to be a casual...myself i dont want to be a casual, i want choreagraphed singing and colour filled bays. Got nothing against casuals, but its personally not my thing. In the case of Sydney FC, we need somewhere in between the two which will leave no1 p1ssed off. I htink the absense of old mate Farrell will help...

Well in alfie... yeh dats very true, and its gonna happen like that whether you, I, Alfie or anyone on this board likes it, any songs, chants or names that are gay will be ignored and left out in future, anything thats genuine will be kept, repeated, instilled and built on. As much as we try to organise, the smallish numbers that make up this board, when the match comes around there'll be that many people standing in the cove that it won't matter, someone like Voice will be needed to kick things off and to coordinate our efforts, PS like i said any poofy songs or chants will soon get dumped when theres only 5 pimply farks singin on their own.... SO, besides that this thread is pointless! DELETION TIME NED!

I just want to share my wisdom with the rest of you boys...
Alfie, let us talk about the issues that are of concern to us. If you don't like it don't read it. It is that simple.
Ned, it is an interesting topic so don’t delete it. Let everyone show Alfie-the-wanker just how much we love abusing him.
Thank you for the time...

Oh God...Please don't attack "the bling" talk...Truth is lad majority (not all) on here are kids and sad middle aged blokes who have no clue about real world football supporting. For f**ks sake thingys take parra power merch to Syd FC games. Leave it out for now, we'll see how the bling boys go when the season kicks off Really?, no clue?, how about 400+ Scottish Premier & Div 1 games, 50+ EPL Games, 3 FA cup finals , 30+ Internationals including 3 world cups and 20 odd J-league games. Or doesn't that count? What's your experience then? eh?

Some people are into the Tifosi-style organised support, some (me included) aren't. This shouldn't be a problem, there's plenty of room in the paddington end for everyone. If we want to stand in different groups, with different styles of support, a couple of bays apart it will happen. Who's gonna stop us? Factions happens at most big football clubs anyway.
And if we do have different factions it'll give us something to do when there aren't any visiting fans to have a go at. Left Side v Right side etc What's the big deal?
I think this whole argument boils down to the fact we've got no real football to talk about.

I think this whole argument boils down to the fact we've got no real football to talk about. Spot on. Some people are determined to slag down anything they don't personally like, and I've been guilty of some of that myself. It's a shame that there are some people who have nothing but criticism for whats said here; If football is going to survive in Australia it needs to appeal to as broad a range of people as possible. From hardcore who don't mind mixing it up a bit, through those who want a carnival atmosphere, right down to the ones who want to sit on the half-way line and applaud the finer points of the game and eat prawn sandwiches. There's only one way to support a team in the 'real world' and thats to show up whenever you can, wearing whatever you want, sit/stand with the people who have the same attitude & preferences as you and do whatever you are comfortable with.Me? I want to wear my team shirt, wave my scarf a bit, drink a few beers, sing my head off, see a good game of football, act like a sad middle-aged tosser when my team scores a goal, and not screw things up for other fans.. I'm to old for aggro and too dim for choreography. And just to prove I'm not kidding, there's a new forum on sydneyfc-unofficial.com called "A Firm Opinion" especially for Sydney FC fans who are into terrace culture If it gets used, it'll stay and i'll appoint a moderator, if no-one is interested i'll shut it down.

WTF are you on about?
The club asked for a name to put in a promo so we discussed what would be best. What did you expect? Did you expect us just to ignore the chairman's request? Would you have been happier if we just let the club give us the monkier 'Bay 23 Club'?
If aything, the level of debate on here regarding the name, shows that everyone here does NOT want shallow contrivances, but rather something genuine.
And as others have rightly said, what football topics would you like discussed?

No, but given that I live in the suburbs, work full-time and have a family to look after, I don't really have a realistic alternative for getting in touch with other Sydney FC supporters.
I'm surrounded by rugby wankers and AFL snobs.
I don't understand what it is you've got against people organising themselves, however small the numbers, on this forum.
Theres no football traditions for this club, its not like established clubs where fathers take sons, brothers take younger siblings or friends take their mates to a game where the traditions have developed over many years, and there's a steady stream of willing people sustaining those traditions.
If A-league football is going to survive, it has one shot to impress the new, the curious and the undecided, anything that improves the atmosphere and shows off how much fun it is to support a club has to be good.
For a lot of people on this forum, its a way to try to contribute to the development of that atmosphere and influence how it turns out, even if it is a futile gesture.
In truth you and the other sceptics are almost certainly right, the real development of atmosphere and style will happen at the games, and all the stuff on this board will be blown away. like battle tactics, even the best fan plans get discarded the minute the action starts.
Is it really necessary to belittle and insult people for trying? As I said before we need every fan we can get, regardelss of their age, creed, colour or supporting style.
I don't give a toss if no chant mentioned here ever gets sung, I don't care if no banner idea ever gets used, I don't care if no name thought of here ever gets used, I don't care if no idea of any kind generated here ever gets used.
I'm enjoying setting up the website, i'm enjoying talking about football and getting all worked up over pointless bullshit, I'm enjoying getting to know a lot of people I'd otherwise not know, until the season starts there is no alternative so we're making the best of a one-time situation.
I was living in Japan when the J-League started, and they were in a very similar state to here, football was a minor sport, totally marginalized and the idea of a sucessful professional league had failed once before.
The fans there had even less tradition of supporting football than the ones here, fewer immigrants, even less regional football, as the J-League was starting up, the fans there used the internet (this was 93-94 so the internet was a pretty new concept to them), bulletin boards, posters, flybills, all kinds of ways to organize themselves and decide how they wanted thing to be. Most of them were truly clueless and they came up with some mad stuff, like Yokohama Marinos Ultras doing synchronized hand clap dances and yelling through plastic megaphones, very cheerleadery style. Insane to a western football fan but they seemed to love it so all power to them.
The J-League was Japan's 3rd biggest spectator sport in it first year, it generated over a billion dollars in revenue and has trebled in size teamwise in 10 years.
Those Japanese guys and girls were clueless but the gave a shit, and they tried as best they could, and anyone who went to those early J-League games would tell you that the best thing was the atmosphere generated by thousands of newbies trying their hardest to make the J-League work.
Long rant but its been building up for a while, if even one of the people who have been bagging the efforts of people on this forum reads this far it was worth it.
This is a unique situation, and in 12 months we'll all have a better perspective of what can and cant be achieved.
I feel better now, I'm off for a shit

I do not have a problem with proper organisation. However I do have a problem with wankers pumping names such as BLING BLING on an OFFICIAL Sydney FC Club forum.
This will turn away a lot of older mature fans and generally SiCkthingy haters.
