I still don't understand why we have a second forum, when this one seems to be working fine. Just have the one. Seems a bit pointless really. I agree with what he said!

I still don't understand why we have a second forum, when this one seems to be working fine. Just have the one. Seems a bit pointless really. This forum does work fine for now, as a forum, but having an alternative isn't necessarily a bad thing. This forum is not a website, it offers only forum-related services, the website offers news, editorial, photo galleries for all members, a place to host downloads, integrated 24 x 7 chat (your username is automatically your chat name) it offers a place for people to organise meetings, to set up and report on fundraising efforts without thread hijacking or being swamped under a flood of opinions, which often happens here (as in any forum). Organizing anything on this forum is extremely difficult because busy forums dont lend themselves to that type of activity. A website can put, and keep, a partciular subject in full view. In the future we'll have a tipping competition, Monthly prize draws & competitions to encourage partcipation and quality content. Having forums in the same place just makes sense from an organizational and simplicity point of view. In the end the choice is yours, I don't expect that everyone will want to move to the new forums and I'm fine with that but I wanted a good website and it made sense to try to have the pariticpants of this forum move over to the new ones.

I've got nothing against the website at all, in fact, I think it's a brilliant idea and you should be congratulated for setting it up.
My problem is that now we have two forums, frequented by more then likely the same people, discussing the same things.
Wouldn't it just have been easier to either make this forum the forum for the website or not have a forum on your website and just link to this one?
I'll see what the majority of people do before I sign up to another forum. I spend enough time on this one already. I probably don't really need a second.

I'll see what the majority of people do before I sign up to another forum. I spend enough time on this one already. I probably don't really need a second. First off, I'm really glad that you like it, thank you. I know where you're coming from, so let me explain why the forums are there. It costs money, time and effort to make and maintain a decent website, there's no way, evern with all the help I have been offered, that I can generate enough interesting content to get enough traffic to the site to make it financially self-sustaining, relatively popular forums draw more traffic than anything other than free porn If the site is to grow and develop better content, more features etc. it needs traffic to generate ad or sponsorship revenue and the most sustainable source of traffic is forums. I'm lucky in that I have been approached by a sponsor willing to pay for hosting cost for the first year on spec. (All will be revealed soon) but if the site fails to live up to it's potential in terms of traffic, then I may not be so lucky next year. I'll happily donate 1/3 of gross ad revenue from the site (google & banners, if I have them) to the fan group fund that Ned is setting up. With forums that oculd be $200+ a year, without forums, I can't see me breaking even. And last but not least, proboards is a corporation with an ad-based revenue model, who could shut down this board in 2 seconds for no reason if they felt like it, and have no interest in anything other than getting you to click their google ads as often as possible for as little effort on their part as possible. I'm a Sydney FC fan, with the same interests and goals as the FC fans who post here, so is the Mystery Sponsor, who do you think is more likely to develop and maintain a place with your specific needs in mind? I'm not saying that no forums=no website, but you can be sure that the website will be much better, more fun and offer better services to fans if the forums are popular and well used. see ya.

If that's the case, has it been suggested that this one is shut down and we all transfer to yours?

this proboards website is a piece of ****. Its as simple as that. How can we entice more people to get involved when half the threads are on bullshit.
jubal has done a good job hes got a hectic site and everything. A good website for a good team not a piece of shit website for a good team. We all have to relocate if we really want to be a class above the rest enough of this lazy aussie attitude and the "shell be right" attitude

The threads aren't bullshit. I haven't even seen the suggestion from the Moderators that we all move to jubal's. Neck up you parrot.

If that's the case, has it been suggested that this one is shut down and we all transfer to yours? In conversations with a couple of the mods, they wanted to wait and see whether people would be interested first. Most did not respond to my PM on the subject. To be fair to them I didn't put the above arguments to them, simply told them I what i was doing and offered them a Moderator role, an offer that remains open. It's awkward cos the forum owner is overseas right now. Since I have a vested interest in the outcome I chose not to ask that question because I didn't want to be accused of serving my own interests, or being devisive. Feel free to ask the question in the form of a Poll, but let's make sure everyone knows the upside and the downside of the choices, there are some issues with moving to the other site, we can't move the existing posts and everyone would have to re-register. I really want to avoid a shitfight over this, if most people want to stay here I'll still do the website, link to here, shut down all non-website related forums and participate as much as ever.

As far as I'm concerned, anybody who puts in the effort of setting up a website and/or forum is to be congratulated. As to the multiple forum issue, it's not a huge issue is it? The more communication that takes place amongst Sydney FC fans the better.

I don't consider it a huge issue at all.
The majority of people using the alternative forum are more then likely already members here.
I just don't see the point in having two forums, of the same members, discussing the same issues.
I'm happy with either, just don't have the time to participate on both if it comes to that and feel having one would be better.

The major reason why I am all for the other forum is that this one (proboards) is very bodgy, has annoying shit ads, and is an eye-sore.
