Guys, be sensible. Hopefully the message will come through if it's at the top of a thread.
1. Curva - it's really not cool... we should try lose any implications of linkages to the old, ethnically-factioned NSL world. We're trying to embrace all supporters, use a language the majority of people will understand 2. Bling - look I like hip hop too, but put it this way: this term came in not too long ago and won't last long before it goes out again. In a couple of years Curva Bling will sound lame. Some thoughts for the future should be given here. Especially if we want to be around for a long time.
Personally I favour Paddington End.

I wonder if West Ham fans had three billion threads on whether they should choose "I'm Forever Blowing Bubbles" as their club anthem?

I wonder if West Ham fans had three billion threads on whether they should choose "I'm Forever Blowing Bubbles" as their club anthem? No, i'm sure they didn't, but this is a new club, therefore everyone is a bit tentative towards the manner in which we go forward. I think all supporter group and stand names were best left alone for the time being, until they developed through time, on their own accord.

Further to my last post and this is really the last thing I'll say on the matter. I really don't care if "Curva Bling" gets up or not. It's not important to me and really shouldn't be important to anybody else, as I have said it's a non-issue. It certainly is nothing to have a war about.
But please, can we try to inject a bit of personality, history or humour into the choice made? We need to be NOTICED in the media. The Sun Herald has already written about the name. Walter has had a giggle about it (which was the sole intention anyway). I'm sorry but all this outcry and requests to be sensible about this doesn't wash. If we choose some of the, being quite frank here, dull names being thrown around, such as "The FC" then it's a complete waste of time. I don't go to the football to be sensible. I go to have a laugh and fuçk around with others that I hope will do the same. Sensible names are not noticed. I want us to be noticed.
What if Liverpool decided to call their end, "Red Army End" or "Liverpool Fans". Their whole spirit would be lost in the morass of history. The fact that they decided to name it after an obscure hillock (Spion Kop) in Afrikaans South Africa is the very reason it stands out from the crowd. It's a stupid choice, lame in fact but by Christ, people remember it.
Anyway that's my rant. I'll say nothing more. Chuck "Curva Bling" away if that is what the sensible majority want. But please, can we choose something that's not BORING.
So then. Are Auckland City sheep shaggers or what?

The use of Curva is obviously ironic. As if a little bay in a little country will get anywhere near the type of support that a proper “Italian Curva” would get. Its use is quite clever in trying to show how far we have to go. But it is only good if used with a silly word coming after it...
...such as Bling. This is great because it takes the only insult that is coming to our club and uses it as a compliment. Bling bling is such a stupid phrase but it makes a mockery of the whole glamour club idea. Especially if you can see that the people that will be standing in Curva Bling will probably not be driving home in Jaguar's, BMW's or Mercedes's. Its memorable, kind of obscure but has MEANING unlike "The Shed" or "The Union" or "Bay xxx".
If you do not have a sense of irony I can understand why you wouldn't like the name.

www.footballderbies.com/Check out this website and have a look at the 'fans' tab of each section. It will give us ideas of what other fans call themselves around the globe. Just to put out a feeler. How about we call ourselves the Bad Blue Boys.....We will get so many croats supporting the club and in turn that will attract serbs. At least they will be paying customers.

Umm...how can you say "The Union" has no meaning.. Apart from the literal use of the word Union, what meaning does it have? It is as meaningful as "THE GROUP" "THE CHEER SQUAD" "THE FAN CLUB"

Port Melbournes union links to start with...
Then what i said in the initial post in the thread dedicated to it...
It symbolises the fans (workers) grouping together to keep the club (big business etc) in line and stand up for their rights...perfect.
