Yeah ... and only because the MCG is under construction to HOST the Commonwealth Games and SOLIDIFY IT as the greatest sporting stadium in the world!
I did bloody work experience there ... best STADIUM IN AUSTRALIA! Sporting Melbourne sporting capital of Australia and you know it.
-Grand Prix (Although you have heaps of hoons on the road who like to pretend theyre in GP)
-Australian Open Tennis
-World Croquet Championships
-World Swimming Championships 2005
-Chess World Cup
-State of the Art Lawn Bowls Centre down the road
-Bob Jane Stadium
What shit have you got?
Where's the heart of Telstra 'I sold myself out' Stadium? And don't even bring up Telstra Dome because WE ALL know it is crap anyway.

Dean and Eureka- If Melbourne is all that its a cracked up to be according to you guys then why does it have the biggest population exodus in Australia? Why does it have the most overcast days in Australia?
Why?
Simple-Its a sewer!!

Is this a joke? Melbourne is in a bloody drought too! Our dams are only just over half-full! How the hell can we have the MOST rainy days in Australia?? Surely that is Hobart. Our rain falls mostly on only a few drenchings a year. It ain't constant ... that is an out-and-out lie.
Also ... if Sydney is soooo good ... why the hell aren't you guys out walking on the bridge or graffitting the opera house or something like that ??

Are you going to burst into tears if I tell you that Hobart is one of the driest cities in the country?

And now it's time for the weather...
Bureau of Meteorology: Melbourne is Australia's least sunny capital with a daily average of just 5.7 hours of sunshine.
Why don't you just do us all a favour and just kill yourselves you miserable, grey, boring bunch of non-entities.

Not to mention everyone up there supports fudge poking rugby too!!! If anything is poking fudge, it's that nonsense you melbourne knobs call football - AFL. A whole state obsessed by a sport that no one else gives a toss about and that has no international credibility. ;D As for Spirit being as wanky as "Victory" you have to be joking. Even the rumoured "Pacific Thunder" is less of a wank than "Melbourne Victory". If I was a Melbournite dreg, i'd be partitioning the club to change the name if only it wasn't too late. ------------------------ "In your Melbourne slumsss, in your Melbourne slumsss.. You look in the Yarra for something to drink, you find some sewage and you think it's a treat... in your Melbourne slummssss .. You come on our site with your childish retorts, you love AFL for it's men in tight shorts... in your Melbourne slummss..."

Melbourne needs to host sporting events to have something to brag about...because there is nothing else to brag about! Put it this way, how many of us are trolling on the Melbourne Victory forum. NOBODY. Because to Sydneysiders Melbourne is a non-entity, full of provincials, a city that LOST an Olympic bid. Yet one year before the starter of the league we have up to 5 Vics coming here beating their chest and wanting people to notice them. I want Melbourne Victory to be a success, as I do want all the A League clubs to work. But hey, at least it is Sydney vs Melbourne and not Croats vs Greeks any more. This A League interstate rivalry-thing might actually be catching on! ;D JF
